Dakota Johnson looked effortlessly chic as she stepped out in the New York City sunshine on Monday.

The actress, 35, whose new film Materialists comes out in June, wore an all black casual look for the outing. 

Offering a slight smile for the cameras, Dakota wore a pair of straight leg jeans coupled with a bodysuit as she was spotted in Tribeca, Manhattan. 

She layered the stylish look with a leather trench coat before adding a few inches to her frame with some matching high heels. 

Dakota, whose mother is actress Melanie Griffith, completed the outfit with a pair of black sunglᴀsses and some hooped gold earrings.

Having made a glamorous debut at the 78th Annual Cannes Film Festival a couple of weeks ago, the Fifty Shades of Grey star travelled to New York for a dinner with fellow A-lister Jennifer Lawrence, 34. 

The long-term friends, who have both dated Coldplay front man Chris Martin, 48, were spotted stepping out of a car on their way to a plush restaurant on Saturday night.

The Hunger Games star and Dakota almost matched outfits for the evening, with the former sporting an all-black ensemble and the latter in a black top, brown blazer and grey oversized trousers. 

It was the second time they had been spotted together in recent weeks after the pair attended a screening of Jennifer’s new film Die My Love in Cannes.  

Also starring Robert Pattinson, 31, the movie tells the story of a young mother living in a rural area undergoing a battle with psychosis.

The friends wore glamorous outfits to the French film festival on May 17 while ensuring they adhered to its new rules regarding modesty.

Dressing as a leading lady, Jennifer wore a wrap-around silky black dress that she once again added a splash of colour to with her jewlery, opting for silver and green statement earrings.

She wore her hair back to ensure all eyes were on her stunning makeup look, which featured a much darker eye than she sported for her casual dinner in New York.

Dakota, meanwhile, opted for what appeared to be a 70s-inspired outfit, consisting of a wildly patterned brown jacket and dress.

She added further colour to the look with her large, statement brown sunglᴀsses, once again wearing her dark hair down in a natural wavy style.

A day later, Dakota stole the show on the red carpet as she rocked a dazzling Gucci dress for the 2025 Kering Women In Motion Awards and the festival’s Presidential Dinner. 

Stepping out alongside stars such as Halle Berry, the actress accented her look with some coordinated chandelier earrings while wearing her dark locks in an updo. 

Dakota had made her Cannes debut to promote her forthcoming project Splitsville, which she produced through her production company TeaTime Pictures. 

The movie follows a couple entangled in their friends’ open marriage and also stars Adria Arjona, Nicholas Braun, and O-T Fagbenle.  

Distributed by Neon, Splitsville hits theaters in late summer on August 22.

‘So much of why I wanted to start a production company and make my own movies is because I want more from this industry,’ Johnson explained to Variety of founding TeaTime Pictures in 2019.

Ahead of Splitsville, Dakota will star in Materialists, out June 13, alongside Pedro Pascal and Chris Evans.

According to ᴅᴇᴀᴅline, Materialists follows a matchmaker who balances her relationship with a wealthy man with her lingering feelings for her waiter-actor ex-boyfriend.

The cast also includes Marin Ireland, Zoe Winters and Dasha Nekrasova.
