Rock legend Eric Clapton’s ‘secret daughter’ Ruth Clapton has found love again – five years after the devastating collapse of her marriage to the father of her children.

The singer and lifestyle influencer, 40, has confirmed after years of struggling with being ‘super lonely’ as a single mum, she is now dating British musician Peter Greenwood.

Eric, 80, had secretly fathered Ruth following an affair with studio manager Yvonne Kelly while he was married to George Harrison’s ex-wife, model Pattie Boyd.

Ruth only became publicly known about in 1991 when she attended the funeral of his four-year-old son, Conor, who fell from the 49th floor of a New York skyscraper.

Sharing the news of her blossoming relationship, Ruth says finding love again has transformed her life as a single mum to sons Isaac, eleven, and Theodore, nine.

‘I’m truly back to enjoying being a mother again. Being a single parent is a tough and sometimes super lonely job, and that can take the enjoyment out of it,’ she captioned a recent pH๏τo of herself, Pete and the kids enjoying a sunny day out in London.

‘It can feel like a constant battle. But for the last eight months, it’s felt great again because I have someone to share my kids with now – the highs and the lows. 

‘I can laugh about the meltdowns, and I don’t have to play good cop and bad cop all the time anymore.’

In a sure sign of how serious the relationship is, Ruth also describes herself and Pete on social media as ‘mum and dad’. 

They also took their ‘first family holiday’ together a few weeks ago to Greece. Sharing a pH๏τo of it online, she wrote, ‘Here’s to many more with my favourite men.’

Her previous ill-fated marriage to British architect Dean Bartlett, the father of her sons, took place in September 2011 at St. 

Mary Magdalen Church in Ripley, England. Her rock star father, Eric, not only walked her down the aisle but also performed as the wedding singer during the reception at his Surrey mansion, delighting 150 guests with an hour-long set. 

However, the marriage ended in divorce in November 2020.

‘I’ve gone through a really rough time,’ Ruth said at the time, describing their divorce as ‘a decision that neither of us has taken lightly. All we want for each other is happiness, even if that can’t be achieved together.’

Ruth’s relationship with her father has also seen its ups and downs. As well as her existence being kept a secret from the public until 1991, four years after he sang at her wedding, they had a spectacular falling out.

The music legend was enraged when Ruth shared on social media that he’d gone to a fancy-dress party for his 70th birthday as Kermit the Frog.

The rift was so bad that it led to Ruth cutting the multi-millionaire rock star out of her life for six years until they finally made amends. 

In 2021, she revealed he’d been consoling her during her divorce, saying he’d been ‘helping me’ and giving ‘the best support’.

At the time she explained: ‘I’ve gone through a really rough time. I’m about to navigate my way through a divorce – a decision that neither of us has taken lightly. All we want for each other is happiness, even if that can’t be achieved together.

‘We will continue to work together to co-parent our children and I hope we can do that well.’
