Danny and Anais first met during the coronavirus pandemic, after bumping into each other by chance in London, and have been together for five years.

The couple first went public with their romance at the Pride of Britain Awards in 2021, with Danny revealing at the time that Anais had already received the seal of approval from his mother.

He said: ‘We actually live in the same part of London, and up until now we’ve mainly just been hanging out at home. My mum loved her, and they offered her lots of tea.’

He has shown his love for the French beauty in his music with the One Thing I Got Right and Anais’ ‘favourite’ song At Your Feet, which Danny has said is ‘directly about her’.

The singer got down on one knee to propose at his ‘favourite place on earth’, while on holiday in Norway in August last year.

Speaking to The Sun at the time, he explained he had worked hard to keep the proposal a surprise.

Danny said: ‘We hiked up to the top of a mountain to face the most beautiful waterfall in the world, The Seven Sisters. It’s our favourite place on earth.

‘I nearly pᴀssed out from exhaustion carrying up all the champagne, glᴀsses and food for if she said yes. I had to do it all without her knowing.’

He previously gushed over Anais and revealed how he knew that the stunner was ‘The One’.

He admitted: ‘When you know, you know… I knew when it wasn’t right, but now I know whatever that is, that it’s 100 per cent right.

‘She’s great. I met her during Covid and if you’ve been with anybody through Covid it’s like you compress ten years into those years.

‘You learn everything, all the good bits, mostly the bad bits, and if you get through those moments… I don’t know if it’s a rite of pᴀssage, if you’ve made it through those few years then you know.’

Danny previously was in a four-year relationship with Lithuanian model Irma Mali until 2012, before dating Brazilian model Anne De Paula for four years after meeting on the set of his 2014 music video No Good In Goodbye, and splitting in 2018.

But after a heavy drinking session in his native Ireland over Christmas, he decided to cut out alcohol and ‘face the grief stone cold sober’.

Speaking to Lorraine Kelly on her show in May last year, he admitted: ‘I went off the rails after Mark pᴀssed away like everybody does. I was out drinking, smoking, everything and I went through a mental block.

‘I got back from a big drinking session over Christmas in Ireland and I just said “Enough is enough”. I want to face the grief stone cold sober because if you don’t, you’re only kicking it down the street.

‘January was a big one for me – I gave up drinking, smoking, caffeine, all the good stuff… I was only going to do it through January but here we are in May now and I feel better than ever.

‘I feel like I’m starting to come out from the black cloud a little bit now, hence the new music.’

Since the pᴀssing of Mark, Danny said they have ‘retired the three piece’ and the band has recruited two new members, making it a foursome.

Danny and Mark were friends for almost 30 years and wrote their songs together, he said, as he touchingly added that the guitarist lives on through the music.

He said: ‘What’s our legacy? I don’t have any kids so for me it’s my music but for him, it’s his kids and his family and what he’s done for Irish music as well.

‘He’s a genius lyricist and we are never going to fill his shoes. Why would we even want to try?’
