Samantha Barks has shared the surprise news she’s pregnant with her second child, as she prepared to take to the stage for the BBC’s VE Day 80th Anniversary concert.
The West End star, 34, shared the news as she chatted to host Sophie Raworth ahead of her performance, revealing she was ‘nearly nine months pregnant.’
During the chat, Samantha appeared to let slip the gender of her new arrival, telling Sophie that ‘this would be her first adventure’ in reference to her unborn baby joining her on stage.
Hiding her bump under a black padded coat, Samantha revealed: ‘The dress is being steamed, the hair and makeup is ready.’
As Sophie noted her bump which was hidden under her coat, the Frozen star added: ‘[I’m] nearly nine months pregnant so it’s going to be me and baby performing for royalty tonight so it’s her first adventure.’
But Samantha admitted that as she prepared to sing wartime classic ‘We’ll Meet Again’ that it was not the first time she had performed in front of royalty.

The star had taken to Instagram on Wednesday to share a snap of her bump for the first time, as she and Alex enjoyed a beachside babymoon with their son
She said: ‘It’s my fourth time, actually. It never gets less nerve-wracking, it’s always such an honour but I’m nervous!
‘We have a choir, we have dancers, it’s gonna be a really big finish and I’m super proud of it.
‘Music brings us all together, it still does, even tonight, it brings us back to those days – the power of music. A song like We’ll Meet Again, it’s so poignant and beautiful and I’m really looking forward to it.’
For her performance, which brought the VE Day concert to a close, Samantha changed into a stunning black gown.
Samantha already shares son Raphael, 18 months, with her husband Alex Stoll, who she married in June 2022.

In January, Samantha was crowned as the winner of The Masked Singer, as she was unveiled as the voice behind the character Pufferfish.
Addressing everyone after her unveiling, Samantha said: ‘I’ve had the best time. Underneath the mask, I’ve been smiling so hard – it’s hurting my cheeks! It’s been amazing.’

Samantha added that after years playing the role of Elsa in the West End production of Frozen, she loved taking on ‘new styles’ each week and noted she had ‘lived a double life’ during the ‘crazy experience’.
Speaking in an interview after being crowned champion, Samantha said of the experience: ‘You know what this has been the most fun experience. I’ve loved this whole secret spy life and I can’t believe it’s over and I can’t believe I won?
‘I loved Pufferfish. Now it’s gone I don’t know how to be without the Pufferfish anymore!’
In October 2023, Samantha shared she’d given birth to her first child, son Rafael.
In the caption, Samantha revealed her son’s sweet name, writing: ‘Welcome Rafael Richard Barks-Stoll, born on 16th October. My heart could burst with happiness.’
The musicals star, who played Elsa in the West End adaptation of Disney film Frozen, also received a lovely farewell from her co-stars as they celebrated her last day before her maternity leave.
Posting a picture of the whole team together, Samantha wrote: ‘I have had the most beautiful last day at @frozenlondon before I start my maternity leave! Performing as Elsa to 8 months pregnant has been one of the greatest joys of my life and I am so grateful to @frozenlondon for making it possible and being so supportive every step of the way!!
‘I want to thank this amazing cast for their love and support and for such a glorious year together on and off stage!! This building is truly special and I can’t wait to return to Arendelle in the new year!
