Race Across The World fans think they have ‘worked out’ who is set to leave in the first elimination next week after a giveaway clue.

The BBC adventure show sees five sets of contestants go head to head in a 14,000 kilometers race across China, Nepal and India for a huge cash prize.

In the current series, sisters, Elizabeth and Leтιтia; former married couple, Yin and Gaz, brothers, Brian and Melvyn; teenage couple, Fin and Sioned and mother and son, Caroline and Tom are all trying to bag the £20,000.

Next week’s instalment will see one of the pairs kicked out of the show and hang up their back packs in the first elimination.

Contestants are racing to a checkpoint in Shangri-La and the last couple to make it there will be sent home. 

However, some fans think they have worked out who will be packing their bags.

A user on Reddit rewatched the preview clips aired at the end of episode one and shared their theory that most of the couples were filmed in the final destination, India.

But they speculated that Gaz and Yin’s clip of them ‘running across a modern bridge in daylight’ means they didn’t make it and could be the first pair to go.

‘Seems pretty certain that we’ll lose Gaz and Yin – given that they were last, with at least a twelve hour delay on the ferry and they are shown? Near the checkpoint in daylight, it’s quite possible that they’re nearly 36 hours behind,’ they penned.

The viewer added: ‘Seems such a waste to include an elimination when the casting is so strong.’

Many commented they would be disappointed if that was the case and according to Metro, one said: ‘I’m going to be heartbroken to lose any of these teams, they’re all likable.’

Others added: ‘Surprised that they would go ahead with an elimination if only one couple have been excessively affected by the monsoon, will wait to see what happens but doesn’t seem particularly fair. 

‘I agree that based on the clips we’ve seen it must be Yin and Gaz leaving.’

‘Nooo I hope not, they’re my favourite couple.’

‘Noooo I am really enjoying hearing about their story.’

Wednesday’s episode saw separated Gaz and Yin run a noodle restaurant together in China.

During the instalment, they reflected on the breakdown of their relationship and Gaz said: ‘Being married to Yin was amazing. I did feel there’s security being married because you’re a unit, you’re together.

‘But the breakdown in the relationship was because I became lazy, I took Yin for granted. Even to this day I blame myself.’

He revealed that he ‘didn’t cope with the breakdown of the relationship at all well’. 

Gaz added: ‘I became insular. It was hard and I didn’t like it at all. What do you do? Let’s go down the pub and have six pints of Guinness and forget about it.’

Despite any difficulties, Yin still admired Gaz for his charming ways and confidence.

‘That’s one of the things that I miss about Gaz. That’s the charm that hooked me in,’ she commented.

Some viewers think the former couple share ‘unmatched chemistry’ and took to social media to share their thoughts.

While someone else said: ‘Whether or not Gaz and Yin’s relationship is purely platonic or not, is their business. 

‘It’s just nice to see an ex married couple without spite and malice, support one another. Their dynamic is fascinating to me.’ 

The duo – who also have a daughter together and were married for 31 years – have known each other for nearly four decades, and used to have a takeaway business. 

And while it ‘may sound weird’, they say there is no one else the couple could tackle this adventure with.

‘I wouldn’t probably do this with anyone other than Yin,’ Gaz previously said.

‘I know that sounds weird, because we’re not together, we’re not husband and wife but we’re still best mates. And I think even now, could I do this with my brother? No. Could I do this with any other mates? No. And Yin was pretty much the same.’

Gaz added: ‘I became insular. It was hard and I didn’t like it at all. What do you do? Let’s go down the pub and have six pints of Guinness and forget about it.’

Yin and Gaz first met in the 80s, and say they ‘fell in love pretty quickly after working together’. 

The ‘rave culture’ aesthetics at the time meant Gaz was sported long hair and a goatee when he met Yin’s very ‘traditional’ Chinese parents.

‘They said to me, “why have you brought a drug dealer into our house”,’ she chuckled while recounting the memory in the first episode of the show, as the contestants must make their way to the first checkpoint in the stunning ancient Chinese region of Hunangling.

‘I did look a bit like a dodgy character,’ he admitted. 

‘Gaz was a great husband, a brilliant husband,’ Yin reflected, when speaking of their past romance. ‘He’s my best friend now, but at the time of the  marriage break up I probably hated him!’
