Amanda Owen made a cheeky joke about her ex-husband Clive ‘getting his leg over’ – but concerned fans pointed out ‘you can see he’s in pain’
The English shepherdess, 50, returned to screens with Clive, 70, and their nine kids on Tuesday night for the second series of More4’s Our Farm Next Door.
The first series of the programme aired in October last year and followed the Owen family as they renovated abandoned farmhouse Anty Johns Farm, next door to Ravenseat Farm, into a home.
Tuesday’s episode saw dad-of-nine Clive preparing himself for his second hip replacement, which was filmed back in September 2024.
Speaking to the camera, Amanda said of her ex, who she split from back in 2022 after 20 years of marriage: ‘It’s getting ever so close now to Clive going for his hip operation. So yeah, he’s a bit nervous. I can tell, I know he’s a bit nervous, but he needs doing.
‘Because basically, I don’t think I can say… he can’t get his leg over, but yeah, he can’t.

‘He’s having to sit sideways on the quad bike at the moment. So yeah, it’s giving him some jip.
‘And trying to persuade him to do anything that’s gonna take him out of action is quite a hard sell, really.
‘But finally, he’s going, and he won’t regret it, ’cause I mean he’s had one done and he knows the difference, he knows it’ll be literally, it’ll breathe new life into him.’
She continued: ‘He’s already pointing out how he wants everything to be, yada yada yada.
‘Because he’s one of those, he’s like, “oh, you know, the place is gonna fall apart if I’m not here.”
‘He’s not very good at letting go. So I just know how it will be.’
Ahead of his appointment he said: ‘I wouldn’t say I’m really looking forward to it, but that’s what’s gonna happen and so this is my last day for a little while.
‘And then, I’ll be back and I’ll just have to tell them what to do and drive them all mad.

‘Yeah, I mean, you’re bound to be nervous, but no, no, I’m alright with it.’
After the surgery Amanda described Clive as a ‘terrible patient’ as he just wanted to get back into work after the hip replacement.
Amanda said: ‘Clive hasn’t felt great, and with it his temperament has been problematic…
‘Now, he’s taking his first faltering steps outside and he’s finding fault with everything.’
Those watching at home took to social media to share their worry about Clive after such a big operation.
One wrote on Instagram: ‘You can see the pain he is in.’
‘Get well soon, Clive, we finally see you… we missed you very much…’
‘Hope Clive is OK after his op, the closeness you all share is beautiful, sticking together no matter.’
Back in November Amanda shared a rare health update about her ex husband during another appearance on Lorraine.
She previewed an exclusive peek at the latest episode of her reality show Our Farm Next Door, in which Clive underwent a hip replacement.
She revealed that she’d had a ‘nightmare’ looking after the pair’s nine children and that Clive has been a ‘terrible patient’ while he recovers.
In behind-the-scenes footage, Amanda said: ‘There’s a lot going on here. It’s been a nightmare here.
‘I’ve got children going to school, I’ve got children studying and children working and then he comes to me and says he’s bored.
It comes after Amanda sparked concern on Tuesday’s episode of Lorraine as fans claimed ‘something doesn’t seem right’ during an interview from her farm.
Our Farm Next Door is available to stream on More4.
