Patsy Kensit has issued a breast cancer warning to fans in a candid Instagram post shared on Friday.

The actress, 57, uploaded a snap of herself undergoing an MRI scan before warning others to regularly check their breasts and keep up to date with mammograms.

Following her warning, Patsy then reflected on the heartbreaking death of her mother, who pᴀssed away from breast cancer aged 54 following a 20-year battle with the disease.

Alongside the image of her lying face down on the MRI machine, Patsy penned: ‘Please make sure you always keep up with breast checks and mammogram I lost my mum at 54 after being diagnosed as terminal when she was 35… what a warrior… she never stopped fighting: please be vigilant.’

It’s not clear if the image used was current or from a previous scan.

Her post was met with a plethora of comments from her showbiz pals and fans, some of whom expressed their concerns for the star.

Presenter Lucy Alexander penned: ‘Just had mine – mammograms save lives.’

One fan wrote: ‘Hope you’re ok Patsy ❤️ my Mum was diagnosed at 45 and the ‘bad boy’ took her from me two months before her 50th…I’ve just turned 52.’

With another adding: ‘I really hope this is a routine scan and nothing serious.. sending love and hugs xx.’

While celebrities including Lisa Faulkner, Lizzie Cundy and Tamzin Outhwaite shared their support. 

Back in 2018, Patsy became close to tears as she discussed losing her mother to breast cancer when she was in her 20s.

The actress appeared on ITV1’s Lorraine as part of the You Know Breast campaign to mark Breast Cancer Awareness month and said her loss is ‘always there’ after her beloved mum Margaret Rose pᴀssed away when Patsy was 23.

Speaking of her mother’s 20-year battle with the illness, she said: ‘I was so young. Tragically in 1972, I was four, my mother was 33, she was diagnosed with breast cancer and that was in the 70s, so you know, they gave her weeks to live. 

‘She fought the most incredible battle. Every day I never saw her cry, I said goodbye to her probably about seven or eight times by the time I was 11. She’d go in and out of remission.

‘She defied all of her diagnosis, they were astounded… I get choked up talking about it. 

‘She was so amazing and so positive. She lost the battle when I was 23, my eldest son who is 26, he was one. 

‘There’s not a day goes by when I don’t think about my mum and both my boys. They talk about Grandma in heaven. She’s just such an inspiration and a fighter. 

‘My dad, he was in and out of prison as I was growing up, so I don’t know what would have happened to my brother and me had she not hung in there.’ 

Margaret was married to Patsy’s father James ‘Jimmy the Dip’ Kensit, an ᴀssociate of the Kray Twins, so she acted as a source of comfort for Patsy.

The former Emmerdale star emotionally admitted: ‘Your innocence as a child goes when you realise you’re not immortal. My mum was my best friend.

‘I feel for my sons, she was such a wonderful mother, they’ve missed out on having a wonderful grandmother and that, for me, is heartbreaking.’ 

Patsy shares son Lennon, 25, with Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher, while she has son James, 31, with Simple Minds singer Jim Kerr.

Patsy revealed she ‘feels for her sons’ who didn’t grow up with their grandmother, as she shares son Lennon (pictured in 2016) with Liam Gallagher, and James with Jim Kerr 

Patsy admitted she hasn’t ‘had any signs of cancer’ after undergoing ‘mammograms since I was 22’, but in 2013 the model did had to have an emergency hysterectomy.

Of the procedure, she explained: ‘I had benign, complex tumours in my womb that kept occurring and I had to have a hysterectomy so I was bang straight into the menopause.’

It comes after last month, Patsy sparked concern amongst fans after sharing a heartbreaking post about ‘feeling isolated’ following the ‘saddest week ever’.

The TV personality took to Instagram alongside a sombre snap after previously revealing she’d been diagnosed with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

Patsy captioned the post:  It’s the end to the most saddest week ever. The weekends are always hard as I can feel isolated and I worry constantly… tomorrow is a new day – breath work, meditation and exercise’. 

Before adding: ‘God bless anyone who can relate to any of this… love and light’.

Fans and famous friends rushed to the comments to send the ex EastEnders star their best wishes, with Lisa Faulkner writing: ‘Sending you my love’.

‘Today has been a hard day. Today I feel mislead and hurt. I was diagnosed with PTSD at the end of last year and really turned a major corner and was feeling great. 

‘I don’t feel great today. I feel grateful but sad. Anyone who has dealt with mental health issues and depression will understand and know that you are not alone….

‘When I’m working I feel none of the above.. I’ve just finished filming. I will meditate and try and raise my frequency to bring positivity back into my life. Today is just a bad day.
