Rosie O’Donnell and Ellen DeGeneres have never had more in common, being former TV тιтans who both left the States for the UK following the re-election of President Donald Trump last November, but they’ve not reunited.
‘We’re not really in each other’s worlds, and it’s been kind of awkward but you know what? I wish her the best,’ Rosie told Us Weekly on Tuesday.
‘I wish that she has peace and love in her life and that she is okay.’
The 63-year-old comedian stressed that she doesn’t ‘want to fight against’ the 67-year-old controversial comedian because they need to stick together ‘because gay people are the next group to be threatened.’
‘It’s not like we’re tenaciously opposed to each other. We’re just very different people. We have had some stuff in the past that we never resolved. And not in any way as, as partners or lovers or anything like that, just as friends and comedians, but I wish her the best. I seriously do,’ O’Donnell said.
‘The way the [US government] attacks trans people is absolutely terrifying. If people don’t understand that they’re a vital part of the LBGTQIA+ community, that’s tragic because we protect our own, especially the most vulnerable.’

The 12-time Emmy winner’s past comment was referring to when Ellen told the late Larry King that she didn’t know Rosie and was not her friend, which deeply upset her because they were close in the nineties.
‘Ellen wrote [in a text], “I’m really sorry and I don’t remember that,”‘ Rosie (born Roseann) recalled to THR in 2023.
‘It would never occur to me to say “I don’t know her” about somebody whose babies I held when they were born. It wouldn’t be in my lexicon of choices to ever say. When she was in a perplexing situation and people were saying things about her, I said, “Let me stand next to you and say that I’m Lebanese, too.” When it was a downward media time for me, she didn’t do anything.’

O’Donnell admitted she was ‘shocked’ to discover DeGeneres and her wife of 16 years – retired actress Portia DeGeneres – moved to a farmhouse in Cotswolds, England where they’re raising chickens.
‘I’ve never really known Ellen to say anything political in her life, so I was surprised to read that she left because of President Trump. Like, that shocked me, actually,’ the outspoken Democrat marveled.
‘I’ve been a political person my whole life, not better or worse, it’s just a different way to be in the world. I was very clear about the reason why I was leaving.’
Indeed, a source close to the 34-time Emmy winner told TheWrap on November 20 that she’s ‘never coming back’ and is in the process of selling her lavish California estates in Carpinteria and Montecito.
Ellen notoriously got ‘kicked out of show business for being mean’ after her former self-тιтled daytime talk show ended following 19 seasons after being hit with racism, workplace bullying, and Sєxual harᴀssment claims in 2022.
Meanwhile, Rosie and her non-binary 12-year-old child Dakota ‘Clay’ O’Donnell are getting acclimated to Dublin and she’s now ‘in the process’ of getting Irish citizenship.

O’Donnell produced and starred in Zeberiah Newman and Michiel Thomas’s documentary Unleashing Hope: The Power of Service Dogs for Children With Autism, which premiered Wednesday on Hulu
‘There’s a great, great school there. And Clay has done very well. And they were really welcoming,’ O’Donnell – whose grandparents hailed from the country – gushed.
‘And I love the little town, the little village. It’s in the heart of Dublin, but it’s still a village where you know the name of the grocer and you know the name of the cashiers. People are unbearably kind in a way that shocks me every single day.’
The Long Island native produced and starred in Zeberiah Newman and Michiel Thomas’s documentary Unleashing Hope: The Power of Service Dogs for Children With Autism, which premiered Wednesday on Hulu.
‘When the doctor actually said the word autism it felt like I was kicked in the stomach,’ Rosie confessed.
‘They go internal they don’t want to do anything. It’s difficult. I didn’t have any idea that they had service dogs for autistic kids. She went to Clay. That’s her person. I put my hands on her ears and I said, “We’re going to save my kid you and me. You got it doggy?”‘
O’Donnell adopted Clay during her two-year marriage to late ex-wife #2 Michelle Rounds, which ended in 2015.
This year, the budding artist made their acting debut alongside their famous mother by voicing Mirror in YouTube animated series, Battle for Dream Island.
Last month, the grandmother-of-four sold her $8.3M Midtown Manhattan penthouse apartment at a loss for $6.9M two years after listing the 3,400-square-foot property, which is now under ‘contract’ per the listing held by Caroline Bᴀss of Corcoran.
Acting-wise, Rosie will next portray Mary in the third season of Michael Patrick King’s dismally-reviewed SATC continuation And Just Like That, which premieres May 29 on Max.
