Maren Morris, 35, reveals if she is dating again after ‘painful’ divorce

Maren Morris has been keeping herself busy being a mom and recording an album, so romance isn’t a high priority for the recently divorced singer.

The hitmaker, 35, who enjoyed some girl time with friends earlier this year, released the second single from her new Dreamsicle album on Friday.

Bed No Breakfast has fun with hookup culture.

With lyrics such as ‘Won’t you sleep better at your place/ Hope you enjoyed your stay, but you can’t stay / A five-star review is expected’ and ‘These thousand-count sheets aren’t for restin’’ the Country Music ᴀssociation Award winner doesn’t seem to be looking for a permanent love connection.

‘The whole process of writing that song made me laugh, so I was like, “This feels like a good time [to release this] in the current state of modern dating. It’s a cry for the people,”‘ the artist told People.

Morris and her ex-husband Ryan Hurd, went their separate ways last year after six years  marriage. They share a son, Hayes, five.

The video shows Morris enjoying a variety of solo activities, such as lounging on a pile of mattress, while she looks at her phone, hanging up up lingerie to dry and making bacon sandwiches with an iron and ironing board.

The Sєxy ditty follows the release of her much more serious single, Carry Me Through.

‘I think because Carry Me Through is such an emotional, soulful song about carrying yourself across whatever threshold emotionally, and knowing that you have support and community, but ultimately you have to be the one that makes the choice,’ she explained.

‘That was just such an intentional opening of the project for me, but then I wanted to one-two punch listeners with, yes, it has this soulful, healing vibe to the album, but there’s also a lot of tongue-in-cheek humor and realism.’

‘Bed No Breakfast just seemed like the best way to surprise people that maybe thought the record was going to sound just all like Carry Me Through, in that vein,’ she explained.

‘This felt like a good shock to the system of like, “Wait, no, there’s still some Texan sᴀss in there too.”‘

In addition to ending her marriage, Morris, who identifies as biSєxual, also stepped away from Country Music in 2023, citing being unable to overlook certain actions toward the LGBTQ community.

She famously battled with Jason Aldean’s wife, Brittany, over her statements about transgender people.

‘I couldn’t do this circus anymore—feeling like l have to absorb and explain people’s bad behaviors and laugh it off,’ she told The New York Times Popcast podcast.

‘I just couldn’t do that after 2020 particularly. I’ve changed. A lot of things changed about me that year.’

Morris released the single Better Than We Found It to support the Black Lives Matter movement following the death of George Floyd and other African Americans, and spoke about the need for more diversity in the Country music genre.

As for making a love connection of her own, Morris said it’s not anywhere near the top of her to-do list.

‘I don’t have time for it. I guess that’s good though. My priorities are correct. They need to be on work, myself, my son,’ she explained.

‘If I have the time, I would never shut down to an opportunity to have a connection, but yeah, it’s not priority one, but it’s going.’

Dreamsicle is scheduled to be released on May 9.
