Post Malone was seen breaking the law in California on Thursday.

The 29-year-old performer was pH๏τographed holding an open bottle of Bud Light beer while in the backseat of a black SUV in Los Angeles.

Malone is a long-time partner with Bud Light, collaborating on multiple Super Bowl commercials and a concert in New Orleans during Super Bowl LIX weekend.

The artist was also seen holding the beer in one hand with a cigarette in another as he stood outside the car. 

He was near a recording studio. 

In California, it’s illegal to have an open container of alcohol in a vehicle.

California’s open container law (Vehicle Code 23222 VC) prohibits having any open or unsealed container of alcohol in the pᴀssenger compartment of a vehicle, whether the driver or a pᴀssenger owns it.

This means the container cannot be anywhere a pᴀssenger can reach, such as a cup holder or console. 

Open containers must be stored in the trunk or a non-pᴀssenger area. Violating the open container law is an infraction and can result in a fine and points on your driving record.

The crooner had a country cool look going on.

Often he has a red plastic SOLO cup and a cigarette on stage when performing, as he did at Coachella over the weekend. 

Last week he puffed on a cigarette and held onto a glᴀss of wine as he stepped out in Paris with girlfriend Christy Lee.

OPEN CONTAINER LAW IN CALIFORNIA 

The law is very strict about carrying alcohol or cannabis products in your vehicle with you. 

It is illegal to drink any alcohol, to smoke or eat a cannabis product while you are driving or riding as a pᴀssenger in a vehicle. 

If you are carrying any alcohol, cannabis in your vehicle, the container must be sealed and unopened. 

If it is open, you must keep the container in the trunk or place where pᴀssengers do not sit.

It is also illegal to keep an open container of alcohol in your glove box.

This law does not apply if you are a pᴀssenger in a bus, taxi, camper, or motorhome.

Some fans in the comments were shocked that the performer had moved on with a new woman, as he always displayed great affection for his ex in his few public comments about her.

It wasn’t until a 2022 interview with Howard Stern that Post began referring to Jamie as his fiancée, but he opened up about how the two got engaged on an episode of the Call Her Daddy podcast later that year.

He revealed that Jamie at first turned down his proposal because he was too intoxicated at the time.

‘It was in [Las] Vegas,’ he shared with host Alex Cooper. ‘I had lost a significant amount of money at the table. We go upstairs and I’m off my rocker hammered and I was like, “Hey, you wanna marry me?” I got a ring and all this stuff. 

‘And she said, “No.” She’s like, “Ask me tomorrow,” and I was like, “All right.” And then I did and I was sober and it was nice.’

Post added that he knew his fiancée was ‘right’ for him because her ‘heart is so mᴀssive.’

‘I’ve always wanted kids and a big family. And I could tell she was going to be a really good mama,’ he shared. ‘And she’s like No. 1 mom in the f***ing universe.’

So far, he has not revealed their daughter’s full name, though he did share that her initials are DDP.

Post also hasn’t said anything about this new love Christy, but her LinkedIn account indicates that she is based in New York City and has studied at the Parsons School of Design.

She also reportedly worked as an intern for the celebrity stylist Kristina Askerova, which would have put her in the same orbit as several high-profile stars.
