Black Mirror fans were left ‘crying uncontrollably’ after a heart-wrenching episode which has been hailed as ‘one of the best pieces of TV ever’.
The seventh instalment of the science fiction drama landed on Netflix earlier this month.
Black Mirror is described as a ‘mind-bending anthology series that reveals humanity’s worst traits, greatest innovations and more,’ according to the synopsis.
However, there’s one particular instalment of the sci-fi series that has really hit fans.
Episode five, Eulogy, stars Paul Giamatti as Phillip who is an isolated man approached by a technology company.
They ask him to delve into memories of his former girlfriend who pᴀssed away with a ‘groundbreaking system that allows users to step inside old pH๏τos – stirring powerful emotions in the process,’ according to the synopsis.

‘Beautifully written episode, but Paul Giamatti’s acting is astonishing.’
‘I don’t think I’ve ever cried that hard watching a show.’
‘I just finished the episode and I’m here balling my eyes out.’
Another said: ‘I just finished Eulogy and it has to be one of the singular best pieces of TV I have ever seen.’

‘100% agreed. This was peak cinema. Actually made me cry uncontrollably and that almost never happens when watching shows/movies’
It comes as Black Mirror viewers claimed they were ‘driven to madness’ after spotting alternate versions of the same episode in the Netflix series.
The second episode sees Maria’s (Siena Kelly) life disrupted by Verity (Rosy McEwen) who is able to tweak reality with a special pendant.
Maria becomes confused when discussing the name of a takeaway chicken shop her boyfriend used to work at.
She is convinced it was called ‘Barnies’ while others say it was called ‘Bernies’. It is soon revealed the shop was called ‘Bernies’.
Aside from Maria being baffled, viewers were also left confused when they realised the name was spelt differently for some of those watching.

One fan took to X and posted two pH๏τos of the instalment at the same timestamp showing how was said ‘Barnies’ and the other read ‘Bernies’.
They wrote: ‘So my friend and I were watching the new Black Mirror episode ‘Bête Noire’ and we noticed that there was a stark difference between our episodes… even the viewers are getting gaslit at 16:40!’
The post attracted over 100 comments from other viewers and one penned: ‘I bet you guys were like “It’s Bernies!” “No it’s Barnies!” The showrunners probably did that to mess with people lol.’
