This then lead to masтιтis, which is a painful inflammation of the breast tissue and is common for breastfeeding women in the first six weeks after giving birth.
Opening up about the realities of feeding a newborn naturally, Lottie penned: ‘It’s been really hard. I don’t think people realise sometimes how hard it is!
‘Lucky didn’t latch so I used nipple shields for around 7 weeks, Flossie latched straight away but the pain was so bad, had them both bleeding in the first few hours and then scab up and had to feed through them healing.
‘I had masтιтis too on day 5 but luckily caught it early and it cleared with antibiotics. It’s still a bit sore on latch and very demanding but I’m hoping to stick it out a bit longer.
‘Almost 3 weeks exclusively breastfeeding which I’m quite proud of & I’ll see how it goes x’
