Oprah Winfrey has been accused of ‘fake crying’ as she watched her best pal Gayle King get blasted into space. 

Cameras caught Winfrey, 71, removing her sunglᴀsses and getting emotional as her friend, 70, took off aboard Jeff Bezo’s Blue Origin rocket in an all-female mission on Monday. 

But several netizens expressed doubts that the tears were sincere in a series of hilarious tweets. 

‘oprah seeing the cameras were on her and doing a fake cry ~bit is classic oprah,’ one wrote.

‘Oprah fake crying like she ain’t Force Gayle to do that fieldtrip,’ one posted. 

Another posted a famous meme of a woman sobbing on stage before flashing a sᴀssy expression for the camera.

A skeptical X user wrote: ‘Loved how @Oprah started crying & removed her glᴀsses when the camera pointed at her’ along with a barf emoji.

‘Oprah crying happy tears cause she AINT going,’ another observed.

’11 minutes??? Am I missing something?! And they got Oprah standing out there pretending to cry smh good grief’ one wrote.

‘Tuned in for about 30 seconds, saw Oprah fake cry, then got bored and signed off,’ another posted. 

‘That’s some crocodile tears ma’am,’ another noted. 

‘I watched it…..she looked and saw that the camera was on her before she screwed her face up and had tears.. like she had to make it all about her….’ another posted.  

At the launch site, Gayle’s close friend Oprah, who was there to support her, told reporters that the trip was monumental for Gayle due to her fear of flying.

‘I’ve never been more proud. This is bigger than just going to space for [Gayle]. Any time we’re on a flight she’s in someone’s lap if there’s the slightest bit of turbulence,’ Oprah shared.

But several hilarious social media users accused the media mogul of shedding fake tears once she realized the cameras had turned to her

‘She has real, real, real anxiety flying. This is overcome a wall of fear, a barrier, I think it’s gonna be cathartic for her.’

The six-person crew also included Jeff Bezos’ fiance Lauren Sanchez, Katy Perry, film producer Kerianne Flynn, activist Amanda Nguyen, and former NASA rocket scientist Aisha Bowe. 

Just days before the trip, Gayle appeared to take a brutal swipe at Jeff, revealing that she has questioned some of his recent headline-making decisions.

Gayle sat down with CBS Mornings colleague Vlad Duthiers last week, where she was asked what she would say to fierce critics who might see the flight as an ad for billionaire Jeff, 61, and his company.

‘There have been some questions and some decisions that he has made that I’ve actually gone, “Huh?”

Amazon founder Jeff has ignited controversy in recent weeks, in part due to his plans to overhaul the Washington Post’s Opinion page to focus solely on support for, ‘personal liberties and free markets.’

The controversial move, announced in February, was immediately met with scores of readers cancelling their subscription in protest as well as a spate of resignations.

Earlier this week, Gayle told DailyMail.com that she will be boarding the space flight with a special collection of stuffed animals for comfort.

She shared: ‘I am not getting my bag together, because what do you put in a bag to go to space?

‘So, I asked my daughter and my favorite grandson, “could you pick out your favorite stuffed animals for me to take into space and keep me company?” So, he’s looking.’

The A-list crew travelled for 11 minutes, reaching an alтιтude of 62 miles (100km) and crossing the Karman Line, the official boundary of space.

Blue Origin’s NS-31 mission launched from the company’s Launch Site One about 30 miles north of Van Horn, Texas, at 14:30 BST (09:30) local time. 

The New Shepard Rocket carried the capsule to the edge of space at nearly twice the speed of sound before detaching and allowing the crew to experience a few minutes of weightlessness.

During that period the crew capsule crossed the Karman Line, technically pᴀssing from Earth’s atmosphere into space.

The capsule then made the return journey back to Earth, as the unfurling parachutes drew screams from the crew onboard.

Just 11 minutes after launch, the New Shepard capsule touched down within driving distance of the launch platform where Blue Origin and Amazon founder Jeff was present to open the hatch.
