Lily Allen has completed her first album for seven years after being driven to complete the recording by the emotional impact of the split from her cheating husband David Harbour.
Sources close to the singer confirm that the new LP will be released by her label BMG later this autumn and will include several tracks openly addressing ‘heartache and heartbreak.’
The popstar and actress, 39, has also began to pencil in dates for a UK tour early next year, having been ‘lifted and inspired’ by sell-out audiences to a recent live recording of her Miss Me? podcast with friend Miquita Oliver in London.
Friends say Ms Allen became determined to complete the new album – her first since 2018’s No Shame – as she attempted to put the heartache of her split from Stranger Things actor Harbour behind her.
A music industry source said: ‘Some of the songs on the album were written long before Lily and David broke up, but the words took on added meaning after what Lily has just been through.

‘Other songs on the new album are clearly impacted by recent events, you hear familiar themes of heartache and heartbreak, along with Lily traditional ironic take on life on others.
‘The new album is very much a return to what fans would want and expect from Lily. She has been really focused on it since breaking up with David.’
Ms Allen had split from Mr Harbour after discovering his ‘secret profile’ on exclusive dating app Raya.
In March, as she held a live recording of her podcast Ms Allen said she was still grappling with her breakup.
She admitted: ‘I am not over it. I am sort of running away. Maybe I will have a nervous breakdown.’
But friends say the completion of the new album has been a real boost to her life.
In January Ms Allen also said she was attempting to ‘manifest’ getting a new album out, but despite having around 50 songs to pick from, still wanted to continue writing new tracks.
One record label source added: ‘Lily really has kept her word over the album. It’s completely finished, and ready to come out in the autumn.
‘We are are hopeful it will bring Lily Allen back to old fans, and win over some new ones. She is also now actively planning ahead for live shows early next year.’
