The wife of Weezer bᴀssist Scott Shriner had a difficult past.
Jillian Lauren-Shriner, 51, who married the bᴀssist back in 2005, faced abuse as a child when growing up in New Jersey.
In her book Some Girls, about her time spent in the harem of Prince Jefri Bolkiah, youngest brother of the Sultan of Brunei, she recounted how her father would often hit her if she disobeyed.
At one point he sat on her as he punched her over and over, she shared in the page-turning book that came out in 2010.
The star said that it caused her trauma and she has had to deal with the mental ramifications from the abuse her whole life.
She also said in her book her husband Scott was the one bright star in her life.
This comes after she allegedly sH๏τ at police officers, who say they were simply returning fire when they struck her in the shoulder, in a bizarre incident that took place in Los Angeles this week.

Lauren grew up in Livingston, New Jersey.
She graduated in 1991 from Newark Academy and later moved to New York City, where she briefly studied acting at New York University.
Jillian is now facing an attempted murder charge for the bizarre incident outside of the couple’s home in Eagle Rock on Tuesday.
‘Our investigation revealed evidence such as shell casing and video footage showing she repeatedly ignored police commands to disarm and that she fired her weapon at LAPD officers,’ spokeswoman Jennifer Forkish confirmed to PEOPLE.
‘She was subsequently booked for attempted murder of a peace officer.’
In audio obtained by the magazine, an officer could also reportedly be heard telling dispatchers, ‘She has a gun in her hand.’
‘Female suspect’s going to be wanted for ADW [ᴀssault with a ᴅᴇᴀᴅly weapon] on the PO [police officer],’ the cop is said to have told the dispatcher.
An officer was also heard in the aftermath requesting a response for a ‘female suspect, gunsH๏τ victim’ who the cop described as wearing a ‘long gray sleeved shirt, black pants, armed with [a] gun.’
Lauren-Shriner was subsequently taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries, while she was absentee booked on the attempted murder charge.

She was sH๏τ by police officers in Los Angeles on Tuesday after authorities say she pointed a gun at them, and refused to obey orders to drop it from officers on the scene
Lauren-Shriner and her babysitter were seen surrendering to officers in the aftermath
Authorities have previously claimed the author became entangled in a police manhunt for a driver who fled the scene of a multicar crash when he allegedly crossed into her neighbor’s property.
The unidentified male suspect is said to have left the scene of the crash on the 134 Freeway with two other men at around 3pm.
When two good Samaritans gave chase, the suspect decided to hide from officers by stripping down to his boxer shorts and jumping into an Eagle Rock resident’s swimming pool.
He also allegedly watered some plants in a bizarre attempt to blend in with the neighborhood.
But as he approached the Shriner’s home, Lauren-Shriner decided to step out into her backyard with a gun, police allege.
They say officers ordered her several times to drop the gun, but she refused, and instead pointed the weapon at them. She was struck in the shoulder by police gunfire.
At that point, Lauren ran back inside her house – but re-emerged a short time later with her babysitter at her side.
They were both seen with their hands raised, as officers ordered them down the driveway, where they were arrested without incident.

The entire incident began with a three-car crash on the 134 Freeway
In the aftermath, Lauren-Shriner allegedly told cops she was simply trying to defend her home from the suspect running through the neighborhood, according to CBS News. That suspect was also taken into custody, cited and released.
Officers added that Lauren-Shriner had nothing to do with the initial three-vehicle crash, which left one woman with moderate injuries.
They did say, however, that officers located a nine-millimeter handgun from Lauren-Shriner’s home during an investigation.
She has since posted a $1 million bond and was released from jail.
Yet she has not yet made a court appearance, and it was immediately clear whether she has hired a lawyer who could speak on her behalf.
When the Weezer bᴀssist was seen walking the dogs outside their Los Angeles home on Thursday, he simply said that his wife is ‘alright’ and thanked a New York Post reporter for asking.
Shriner, 59, declined to give any further details about his wife, and it remains unclear whether he was involved in the shocking incident.
He did not seem too worried that any legal case would have him tied up, however, telling the reporter, ‘See you at Coachella’ in a plug for the band’s upcoming gig at the famed California music festival.
Meanwhile, police say two other suspects involved in the multi-car crash remain at large.
