Sydney Sweeney’s fans were shocked to see her in the company of her former fiancé Jonathan Davino on Sunday, just under two weeks after a source told DailyMail.com that she had called off their wedding.
And now details have emerged about why the exes were seemingly so chummy after the surprise split.
A source close to the Euphoria star told People that the two are still in touch and ‘figur[ing] out’ a way to unravel their entwined lives after being together for years.
‘This wasn’t just a relationship. This was two people living together and planning a future,’ the insider emphasized. ‘They still have things to figure out.’
They added that the actress was ‘doing well’ and keeping her focus on her ‘work,’ rather than letting herself be consumed by the tumult in her personal life.
Following news of the former couple’s split, a source claimed to TMZ last week that the two had split back in January and had been living separately since then

During the reunion in Los Angeles on Sunday, Sydney showed off an icy, blank face, and Jonathan similarly didn’t betray a smile.
The White Lotus actress, who previously went ring-free, kept her left hand hidden in her baggy hoodie sleeve.
Although there wasn’t any obvious affection emanating from their faces, Jonathan put a hand on his ex’s back at one point in an apparent attempt to comfort her.

Sydney and her ex-fiancé were pictured having lunch together at the popular Beverly Glen Deli, and both covered up with black sunglᴀsses, while Sydney also kept her hood up.
Despite the shakeup in her personal life, Sydney is reportedly staying busy with new work pursuits.
A source told Variety last week that she is in ‘final talks’ to star in Legendary’s upcoming Gundam film, which will remake the classic 1979 anime Mobile Suit Gundam.
An insider told People late last month that Sweeney is ‘exactly where she wants to be’ with her career, and they claimed she can handle a work schedule that would overwhelm most other people.
‘She’s all about working right now and very excited about all her projects,’ they said.

Instead, they claimed that it was her relationship to Jonathan and their upcoming wedding that was making her feel ‘overwhelmed.’
‘She didn’t feel right about it,’ they added.
A source previously told DailyMail.com that the couple’s split was precipitated by them not being on the same page about starting a family.

Sydney and Jonathan began dating in 2018, and they got engaged in 2022, but throughout that period they have kept their relationship low key with few public appearances or obvious romantic displays.
Prior to Sunday’s meet-up, the two had not been seen together since January, when they reportedly split.
Sydney only fueled rumors of a split when she deleted a pH๏τo of her and Jonathan kissing from an Instagram post, and fans became suspicious after she took a trip to Africa in early March with him.
On Saturday, the actress left her fans in shock after an oddly timed reunion Glen Powell in Dallas, Texas, to celebrate the wedding of his sister.
The Top Gun: Maverick heartthrob had previously starred opposite her in the hit romantic comedy Anyone But You.
She launched her production company, Fifty-Fifty Films, in partnership with Davino in 2020, and he worked as a producer on the hit romcom ‘Anyone but You,’ in which she starred alongside Glen Powell, 36, in 2023.
Despite fan concerns that Sydney and Glen’s reunion indicated a burgeoning romance, his mother put the kibosh on those rumors.
In an exclusive phone call with DailyMail.com, Cyndy Powell stated, ‘They’re definitely not together. It was just, like, she was there [at the wedding] with her friend.’
Sydney is ‘really close friends’ with the whole Powell family, she added, and in particular Glen’s sister Leslie, an LA-based singer–songwriter.
Glen confirmed as much on a recent Today Show appearance.
‘[Leslie] and Syd are obviously great friends and it was a hell of a wedding,’ he said.
