Eamonn Holmes was humiliated by David Blaine in a painful and awkward interview from more than 20 years ago that you may well have forgotten.
The American illusionist, who recently celebrated his 52nd birthday, appeared on GMTV back in 2001 and sat down with host Eamonn, 65.
During the bizarre encounter, David – who is famous for stunning Londoners with his attempt to walk on water – barely said a word to the presenter’s questions and instead stared blankly at him.
Eamonn attempted to start conversation with the magician by asking him how he performed a trick that involved setting pages in a book on fire.
David simply stared back at the presenter who laughed and said: ‘Indeed, that’s what I ᴀssumed.’
‘You’re famous in this country as well for appearing in a car advert,’ Eamonn continued. ‘Doing car tricks.’

The stuntman continued to star intensely at Eamonn who replied, ‘Excellent, is it a trick to talk?’ to which David shook his head.
Throughout the interview, Eamonn repeatedly tried get more conversation out of the magician, only to receive very monotone answers.
At one point, Eamonn asked, ‘Is this part of the show? This mean and moody, and the stare? And the eyes and all that sort of thing? That’s just you?’
In response, David flashed his hand up to reveal an eye drawn on his palm.
The interview went on for a painstaking six minutes, with David constantly replying in a monotonous voice.
David is known for his outlandish stunts in the past and has 1.85million subscribers on his YouTube account.
He has done a range of questionable activities including freezing himself for 3 days, holding his breath for 17 minutes and 4 seconds and was even buried alive.

Since the iconic interview, it has been revealed that the act was all part of David’s trick.
In 2019, the pair were reunited again on This Morning and David explained that he wanted to do something to get the attention of everyone who wasn’t watching the show, and he knew that a card trick wouldn’t be good enough.
As soon as Eamonn saw David he quipped: ‘I’m just pleased you’re speaking – its great.’
Explaining why he barely spoke in the interview he said: ‘I was in the green room and everyone was talking while the show was going – no one was listening to their friends on the show.
‘I thought I’m going to make people watch me – I was thinking a card trick would be too boring it and won’t stop them talking so I came up with that idea last minute.
‘Which I thought was funny.’

Eammon jokingly said back to him: ‘I’m glad someone thought it was funny.’
David carried on by saying that he achieved his goal: ‘As I walked past the green room I looked in and everyone had their mouths open and they were just staring at the TV screen.’
Eamonn sH๏τ back: ‘Do you not think that was a wicked thing to do? It was the longest 6 minutes of my life.’
But David defended himself, insisting: ‘Look – it worked’.
