A Georgian stately home where the Great British Bake Off was filmed is on the market for £7 million.

The vast grounds of Harptree Court in Somerset previously hosted the famous Bake Off tent in 2012 and 2013, but has now been listed by agents Knight Frank for £6,750,000.

The lavish property features 12 bedrooms, nine bathrooms, 51 acres of grounds with a Victorian stable yard and a treehouse – with a copper bath.

The home was built in 1797 for Joshua Scrope and was designed by Charles Harcourt Masters – an English surveyor and architect in Bath.

The formal gardens and lawns of this Grade II-listed Georgian property were designed around the same time.

The famous Bake Off tent was erected in the grounds of mansions for two series during its original run on the BBC. The format was bought by Channel 4 in 2017.

The iconic series, which is currently hosted by Alison Hammond and Noel Fielding, first aired on BBC in 2010

Since 2014, The Great British Bake Off has been filmed at Welford Park in Berkshire,.

However, in 2020 and 2021 during the Covid pandemic, it was filmed at Down Hall in EsSєx, with stars placed in a bubble for the six weeks of filming due to the Covid pandemic.

Currently, viewers are tuning into a series of Celebrity Bake Off Specials, in a bid to raise money for Stand Up To Cancer.

Meera Syal was crowned Star Baker on the latest edition, beating comedian Adam Buxton, actor Tommy Tiernan and singer Self Esteem (Rebecca Lucy Taylor).

The Channel 4 cooking show sees hosts Alison Hammond, 50, and Noel Fielding welcome four new stars for the Stand Up To Cancer special, with efforts being judged by Paul Hollywood, 59, and new judge Caroline Waldegrave, 72. 

This week the stars had to make crumpets and jam for the Signature Bake and then a Lambeth cake for the Technical Challenge.

And for the Showstopper they had to make a savoury or sweet pie which was a tribute to their celebrity inspiration. 

Meera impressed in particular with her Showstopper as she made a Frida Kahlo themed pie filled with saag paneer.

Paul branded it ‘unbelievable’ as he tried the delicious pie and later the judges awarded her Star Baker as she said she felt ‘speechless’. 

It comes after last week Kate Garraway was crowned Star Baker after earning a coveted handshake from Paul Hollywood.

The beloved presenter was left speechless after host Noel announced the joyful news after the gruelling baking compeтιтion.

Almost in disbelief, the Good Morning Britain host mumbled: ‘What?’, as Noel, 51, gave her the Star Baker apron.

‘I can’t believe it! It’s the best day of my life,’ Kate said thrilled, struggling to contain her excitement on screen.

But that wasn’t the only reason to giggle on the show, as the broadcaster was left stunned when Paul Hollywood awarded her the coveted handshake for her first bake.

Kate gasped: ‘Oh my God, I got a handshake!’ before joking: ‘It felt like love – I think there was a moment where he had to unpeel my fingers.’
