Netflix horror film so terrifying it left cast member with ‘PTSD’ is just days away from being removed

A Netflix horror film that is so terrifying that it left a cast member with ‘PTSD’ is just days away from being removed from the streaming service.

Hereditary hit the big screens back in 2018 and has gone on to become a huge fan favourite ever since.

The official synopsis reads: ‘When the matriarch of the Graham family pᴀsses away, her daughter and grandchildren begin to unravel cryptic and increasingly terrifying secrets about their ancestry, trying to outrun the sinister fate they have inherited.’

It stars Toni Collette as miniature artist Annie Graham, Gabriel Byrne as Annie’s husband Steve, Alex Wolff as their son Peter and Milly Shapiro as their daughter Charlie.

Hereditary received rave reviews when it was released thanks to its gripping storyline and has gone on to score 90 per cent on Rotten Tomatoes’ Tomatometer.

If you think that it could be one that you’d enjoy watching, you better be quick, because it’s leaving Netflix very soon.

It’s one of the movies that will be leaving the service as part of acquisition renewals on April 15.

And if you don’t believe that it’s that scary, Alex Wolff revealed in a chat with VICE that he suffered with PTSD after filming.

Alex told the publication: ‘It stuck with me well after. When I started talking about it, all these flashes with all this disturbing s**t I went through sorta came back in a flood.

‘It kept me up at night to where I got into a habit of emotional masochism at that point of just trying to take in every negative feeling I could draw from.

‘I forced it upon myself rather than the opposite of what you’d usually do in life, which is sit on the heater until it starts to burn and you jump up immediately.

‘I had to do the exact opposite of that and absorb the pain and let it burn. It’s a reverse emotional thing.

‘It’s hard to describe eloquently, it’s just a feeling.

‘I don’t think you can go through something like this and not have some sort of PTSD afterwards.’

To add to the reasons why you should watch it, many have rushed online to give their positive reviews on the film.

One wrote on IMBD: ‘The most disturbing portrayal of evil ever crafted.’

Another added: ‘I was gripped by this movie, a slow burner, creepy, unnerving, and for me, very disturbing. I was quite moved in parts, and in others I was terrified . A movie has not affected me like this one for some time, it stayed in my head afterwards. I highly recommend it.’

A third chimed in: ‘This has to be one of the best horror movies ever!’

A fourth wrote: ‘Hereditary has officially surpᴀssed The Shining and The Exorcist as MY scariest and most disturbing movie of all time. And it’s not even close.’

A fifth simply said: ‘Hereditary is without a doubt one of the most frightening, deeply disturbing, and evocative pieces of horror I have ever seen.’

A sixth commented: ‘This is how you do a horror movie, take notes.’

Hereditary is written and directed by Ari Aster and lasts two hours and seven minutes.

He has also worked on the likes of The Strange Thing About the Johnsons, Midsommar and Beau Is Afraid.

The phycological horror is produced by Kevin Frakes, Lars Knudsen and Buddy Patrick.
