Lily Allen has revealed she auditioned for The White Lotus by sending bosses a self-tape, as the singer lifted the lid on how she wants to further her acting career.

The Smile Hitmaker, 39, is most well known for her catchy tunes and more recently her podcast Miss Me? with her best friend Miquita Oliver. 

But in the most recent episode, Lily told listeners she wants to ‘put herself out there more’ and would love to star in a ‘UK detective drama’. 

She explained: ‘I haven’t auditioned for anything really. I did do a self-tape for The White Lotus and obviously did not get it. But I think I’m a bit scared of doing self-tapes.

‘Maybe now I would do them because I don’t think people give as much of a s*** about me anymore. 

‘Back in the day I didn’t like the idea of casting officers having a tape of me in case they would share it with other people. Now I don’t really subscribe to that fear so much, I don’t really care.’

Lily went on to talk about how she’s really ‘into acting’ right now as she gears up to play the lead in a new adaptation of Ibsen’s play тιтled Hedda, by British director Matthew Dunster.

The play, which will run at the Theatre Royal in Bath this summer, is the singer’s third on-stage role.

She told her podcast listeners: ‘I did a pH๏τoshoot last week for Hedda, the play that I’ve got coming up and I really loved it. 

‘I’m really excited about getting into the rehearsal days for this play and yeah I do hope that I get more opportunities. 

‘I want to put myself out there a little bit more and be a bit braver with doing self-tapes and going up for auditions and stuff because it is something that I enjoy and it something that I think I have the ability to be good at.’

She later joked: ‘I don’t know if the Oscars is what I’m going for, but a nice UK detective series, I’d love that.’

It comes just after Lily shared a glum selfie to her Instagram as she detailed her reaction to her extremely chaotic day including a grim discovery on Wednesday.

The hitmaker was due to attend a Botox appointment but ended up missing it after she realised there was a pile of human excrement on the floor of her train.

Dressed casually in a green coat with a pair of black sunglᴀsses, the star also shared a close-up snap of her nose with a pimple on it – adding to the list of events to her day.

She explained: ‘I haven’t auditioned for anything really. I did do a self-tape for The White Lotus and obviously did not get it. But I think I’m a bit scared of doing self-tapes’

Detailing the ordeal, she penned alongside the snaps: ‘She didn’t know it yet but just after this picture was taken her whole day was about to change forever.

‘She realised the reason the carriage she was on was almost empty was because there was a pile of human feces on the floor, the stench was absolutely hideous, hence the emptiness.

‘It was too much too much to bear, so she got off at the next stop, but the other carriages were so full she couldn’t push her way on.’

Lily continued: ‘She gave up on that particular train but realised she would have to wait 14 mins for the next.

‘She wasn’t going to make it to her Botox appt on time and she knew full well that her doctor didn’t have any more slots till next month.

‘She reluctantly called the doctors office to reschedule and then got on another train going in the other direction. She picked at a pimple on the side of her nose and it bled all the way home. She didn’t have any tissue.’

It comes after it was revealed that Lily was said to have been left in ‘agony’ when she allegedly found that her husband, Stranger Things star David, was using the celebrity dating app Raya.

But apparently what the British pop star did not know was that David had also been having an affair for at least three years with a colleague.

The Daily Mail has been told that the American actor was romantically involved with a younger costume designer, whom the Mail chose not to name.

She told Miquita on their Miss Me? podcast: ‘How do I feel about ageing? Well, I just got some additions to the family – don’t know if you’d noticed?’

Miquita told her: ‘I noticed because you pulled your top off a month ago and showed them to me. I was like ‘absolutely incredible’.’

Lily, who turns 40 in May, continued: ‘They look really incredible when I take my top off, and my bra off, but there’s definitely a contrast in age between my breasts and my face.

Lily added on her new boobs: ‘There’s a thing that happens a few months after you get them which is they drop and fluff.

‘So they’re still quite high and they’re still quite hard. When they drop and fluff they feel like normal boobs.

‘So I haven’t got to drop and fluff yet, I’m very much looking forward to that.

‘I feel like it’s really fun. I’m like buying fancy lingerie that my boobs can actually fit in and taking pictures on my phone.

‘Haven’t sent them to anyone yet, but it will hopefully get there at some point.

‘On my 40th birthday I’m going to drop and fluff.’
