Michelle Pfeiffer has broken her silence on the death of former co-star and friend Val Kilmer at 65 as she was one of the most beautiful women in Hollywood he had seduced.

The 66-year-old actress paid tribute to the Hollywood legend on her Instagram Story as he previously revealed the ‘intimacy’ between them but candidly revealed that he actually had a crush on her younger sister Lori Pfeiffer, now 59.

Val – famed for iconic roles in Top Gun, Batman and The Doors – tragically pᴀssed away at 65 from pneumonia after a long health battle. 

Michelle shared a black and white snap of them embracing on set of 1985 ABC afterschool special One Too Many with the caption: ‘Rest In Peace, Val [red heart emoji]’

The two had become friends after starring together in the special. 

He said he had always felt comfortable talking to Michelle, and was able to open up to her about his parents, with who he shared a strained relationship.

In turn, Michelle was able to confide in Val the inner working of her rocky marriage to Peter Horton, from who she later divorced.

‘The secret pain that Michelle and I shared created an intimacy between us,’ he wrote in his book.

Val claimed to have adored her but confessed that he had always had an ‘all consuming crush’ on her younger sister Lori, who ‘did not seem to reciprocate, even a little. In fact, she seemed to not even know I existed.’

While the details of their alleged romance are unclear, the pair are thought to have dated at some point during the 1980s.

Back on November 15, 2018 Val reflected on his bond with Michelle and even touched on his longing for Lori.

He shared the same pH๏τo that Michelle had recently posted with the caption: ‘#tbt I first met Michelle through her husband Peter and Mare Winningham, who was my first girlfriend in high school. 

‘It was so amazing to work with all 3 such talented people in one “after school special” which was to my memory always a “morality play” that was designed to educate kids just home from school. Dah.’

Val went on to explain that his costar-was so stunning, no doubt it came as a surprise that he had feelings for her youngest sibling instead.

His daughter Mercedes Kilmer, whom he shared with ex-wife Joanne Whalley, revealed Val pᴀssed from pneumonia in Los Angeles on Tuesday.

The screen icon was diagnosed with throat cancer in 2014 and underwent surgery, including a tracheotomy which significantly impacted his ability to speak. He was later declared cancer free. 

Kilmer was known for his role as Iceman in the 1986 hit movie Top Gun and as Batman/Bruce Wayne in the 1995 Batman Forever. Despite his permanently damaged voice, he made a brief return to the screen in 2022’s Top Gun: Maverick, reprising his role as Iceman opposite Tom Cruise. It was his final big screen appearance.  

The Los Angeles native also famously played musician Jim Morrison in the 1991 film The Doors. 

Aside from Mercedes, 33, he is also survived by son Jack Kilmer, 29. Kilmer was married to their mother, fellow actress Joanne, from 1988 until 1996. 

His death was confirmed by the New York Times on Tuesday.

Kilmer underwent both radiotherapy and chemotherapy for his cancer as well as a tracheostomy a procedure to create an artificial hole in this neck to help him breathe.

The latter permanently damaged his vocal cords and consequentially forever altered his speaking voice.

Kilmer reported in 2020 that he had been cancer-free for four years.
