Desperate Wendy Williams bangs on ᴀssisted living window as protestors beg for her release from guardianship

Wendy Williams joyfully waved to a group of #FreeWendy supporters that rallied together to show their support, outside her ᴀssisted living facility, amid her fight for freedom from her yearslong court-ordered guardianship.

Upon seeing fans gathered in front of her residence, the former talk show host, 60, rushed to her window and started banging on the windows to express her graтιтude.

In addition to smiling and waving to her supporters, the media personality, who was diagnosed with aphasia and frontotemporal dementia in 2023, began dancing and listened to the cheering crowd.

While it is unknown if she could hear the chants from inside, fans loudly yelled for her freedom and that they ‘loved’ her.

At one, she pressed her ear up against the glᴀss, seemingly in an attempt to hear what her supporters were saying, before putting on a New York Yankees baseball cap and cheerfully shimmying in front of the window.

Entertainment journalist, Anita Bennett, who captured footage of the protest, tweeted that Williams’ had a ‘small but boisterous group’ calling for the end of her guardianship on Tuesday, April 1.

As the protest went on, Williams raved to People that it felt ‘very good’ to see her fans and their ‘posters and t-shirts.’

‘I’m standing here and looking out the window because I like things like that. I love nothing better than to stop and pose,’ she explained on the phone.

She continued: ‘It’s nice to see regular people, but it’s even more important at this time in my life to see media. At this point in life, I can’t trust a lot of people and I can’t even get into who I can’t trust, but there are people that — oh my gosh, I can’t trust them as far as I can throw them.’

Williams went on to claim that the ‘memory unit’ is a ‘f**king dump.’

‘I need you know everything I do, I do right here in this bedroom you know, in this bed,’ the star stressed.

At this time, the mother-of-one stated that she is ‘absolutely 1000% happen’ her guardianship will end.

‘When I get out of the situation, I’m staying in New York where I’m comfortable,’ she noted. ‘I can’t wait to fall in love… I will not lie about that.’

Williams also shut down false narratives about her and her family that have come out about her since she was put under a court-ordered guardianship in 2022.

‘I can’t stand when people talk about my son and me and when people say certain things like I have attorneys and I have this and I have that,’ she told the outlet. ‘Listen, let me tell you something — unless you hear from me [or from] my niece Alex [Finnie] or my friend Suzanne Bᴀss or anybody in my family …. That’s [the] real me.’

Williams, then, stressed that ‘if anybody else is doing the talking [on her behalf]… [it’s] stupid bulls**t.’

Earlier this week fliers for a #FreeWendy rally began circulating in New York City.

‘Let’s come together and make our voices heard for Wendy!’ it read, in addition to a link to a peтιтion to ‘free’ the former The Wendy Williams Show host.

Last month, Williams was received a perfect score on a ‘capacity test’ administered by the psychiatrist, according to TMZ.

According to the sources, Wendy was administered a 10-item questionnaire that was designed to determine her awareness and decision-making abilities, and she scored 10 out of 10 on the test.

Although one test alone doesn’t give a full picture of her mental capacity, the fact that she pᴀssed the test with flying colors may indicate that she is far more aware than her guardian has indicated.

Williams had previously been diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia and aphasia.

Still, sources clarified that the exam Williams underwent was not to dispute her dementia diagnosis.

The results of the test will reportedly be shared with the judge who has been overseeing her guardianship.

In recent weeks, Wendy has been making an effort to speak to the press to make her case that she has improved and should be able to manage her care — and money — on her own.

Williams PR push is set to expand later this week when she is scheduled to make her first national television appearance since her dementia diagnosis.

It was previously reported that Williams’ visit to the hospital was preceded by NYPD officers visiting her at her ᴀssisted-living facility to perform a wellness check.
