The 1% Club question drives finalist to abandon whopping £94k jackpot – but can you solve it?

A question on The 1% Club drove a finalist to walk away from a whopping £94,000 jackpot in the latest episode – but can you solve it?

Saturday night’s instalment of the ITV quiz show, hosted by Lee Mack, saw 100 contestants attempt to win a huge cash prize.

The programme’s questions were put to the public, with the percentage who got it right determining the difficulty of each round.

Aptly, the final quiz is one that just 1 per cent of the public answered correctly and in the recent episode two finalists were so concerned about answering it that that neither attempted to.

Instead, they opted to walk away with their share of £10,000 and not take a punt at the £94,000 question.

Lee still read out the question after their decision: ‘Yolande takes one tablet on every day of the week that has three vowels in total in it. She starts this pack on 2nd March. What date will she need to start a new pack?’

However, one of the players, Sara, had a go and managed to get it correct, meaning she missed out on the huge jackpot.

The answer was Tuesday, March 26.

‘I wanted to not go home empty handed,’ Sara explained.

Lee replied: ‘I still think you’ve done the right thing given how difficult these questions can be.’

During the same episode, some viewers confused after a few of the questions were particularly difficult to answer.

Someone watching the show was left baffled by some of the questions and according to the Express said online: ‘Which maniac put together these mind-bending questions this evening?’

Another commented: ‘Tbf, probably 2 of the more difficult opening questions we’ve had.’

The 35% question caused confusion amongst some viewers and read: ‘Andy, Chris and Brian go to a Tapas restaurant where every dish on the menu is the same price.

‘They agree to split the bill equally. Andy orders twice as many dishes as Brian and Brian order twice as many as Chris. The total comes to £60 exactly. How much does Chris pay?’

The correct answer was £20 but the question confused some viewers who posted on social media: ‘When you work out how much each tapas dish costs but then it doesn’t matter anyway.’

Another commented: ‘Out at the 35% question. Didn’t read the question properly.’

One watcher chimed in: ‘That one got me!!! Should’ve trusted myself on the compᴀss one. then used my pᴀss here! Or should’ve just read the question.’

Someone else added: ‘Got me that!’

However some did manage to get the answer right and one posted: ‘£20. They are splitting equally, doesn’t matter how many dishes they ordered.’

The 1% Club airs Saturdays on ITV1 and is available to stream on ITVX.
