Meghan Trainor finally admits to using weight-loss drug after ‘smoke show’ makeover

Meghan Trainor has finally admitted to using a trendy semaglutide injectable to help her shed a substantial amount of weight over the past year.

On Monday, the 31-year-old Grammy winner gave a special ‘shout out’ to the type 2 diabetes drug brand, Mounjaro.

‘No, I don’t look like I did 10 years ago. I’ve been on a journey to be the healthiest, strongest version of myself for my kids and for me,’ Meghan – who boasts 59M social media followers – wrote on Instagram.

‘I’ve worked with a dietician, made huge lifestyle changes, started exercising with a trainer, and yes, I used science and support (shoutout to Mounjaro!) to help me after my [second] pregnancy. And I’m so glad I did because I feel great.’

Trainor developed gestational diabetes after welcoming her two sons – Riley, 4; and Barry, 21 months – with her husband of six years, Spy Kids alum Daryl Sabara.

The Whoops singer flaunted her slimmed down 5ft5in figure in a black sheer dress while being honored with a Hitmaker trophy at Billboard Women in Music, which was held at YouTube Theater in Inglewood, CA on Saturday.

‘But it’s a little disheartening that so many of the questions (and comments) were focused on my body instead of my music, my pᴀssion, or the decade of hard work that got me here,’ Meghan lamented.

‘This is what it’s like to be a woman in the music industry.’

Trainor concluded her post: ‘Here’s to celebrating talent, growth, and the power of putting yourself first. Let’s keep shifting the convo to what really matters. With love.’

In the last few years, more and more people have decided to take GLP-1 medications, which allow them to easily shed weight they openly struggled with for decades but can cause yet-to-be-known long-term effects such as pancreaтιтis.

Celebrities who have admitted to taking semaglutides include Kathy Bates, Kelly Clarkson, Whoopi Goldberg, Oprah Winfrey, Elon Musk, Rebel Wilson, Chelsea Handler, Amy Schumer, Sharon Osbourne, Sheryl Underwood, Lauren Manzo, Dolores Catania, and Golnesa ‘GG’ Gharachedaghi.

But for every celebrity who admits to hopping aboard the Ozempic train, there are many more who’ve remained suspiciously silent while slimming including Lizzo, Mindy Kaling, Melissa McCarthy, Khloe Kardashian, Lana Del Rey, Christina Aguilera, and Patricia Arquette.

These injectables can cost $25/month for qualified patients under insurance, but it costs anywhere between $600 and $1,300 for a month supply of four weekly pens out-of-pocket.

Ozempic, Wegovy, Rybelsus, Mounjaro, and Victoza should only be prescribed to severely overweight patients suffering from type 2 diabetes – and only one of them (Wegovy) has been approved for weight loss by the FDA in 2021.

On the red carpet, the Mᴀssachusetts-born blonde had claimed her new look was due to ‘science’ after ‘working out so incorrectly’ by ‘running and doing cardio,’ which she hated because it always ‘inflamed’ her body.

Meghan wrote on Instagram: 'No, I don't look like I did 10 years ago. I've been on a journey to be the healthiest, strongest version of myself for my kids and for me'

‘I’m trying to biohack my body, so anything that will help me age backwards, I’m into it,’ Trainor explained to ET.

‘I just learned about the NADs, I was like, make me Hailey Bieber, I’ll do it, I’ll take it, so yeah I’m trying, I’m trying all the things.’

The Workin’ On It podcaster was referencing the NAD+ coenzyme IV therapy loved by the 28-year-old Rhode founder for allegedly boosting cognitive function, energy, memory, and other anti-aging effects.

Earlier this year, Meghan underwent a breast augmentation and lift with plastic surgeon Dr. Payman Danielpour due to the ‘sagginess’ that occurred from having children and weight fluctuation.

‘These are the boobs of my dreams,’ Trainor gushed to People on March 6.

‘I have never been more comfortable in my body. Maybe it’s because I’m in my 30s now and I’m better. I’ve been working with a therapist for a long time, trying to rewire my brain to love myself more.

‘It’s always something like a work in progress, and that’s why I write all these anthemic songs of, “I love myself,” because it’s constantly a thing I’m working on and I notice my fans are also working on that. So that’s how we connect.’

The I Wanna Thank Me singer – who gets 23.7M monthly listeners on Spotify – concluded her $14.1M-grossing, 26-date Timeless Tour on October 19.
