David Tennant shows off new beard as he makes a trendy appearance at the BBC studios in London

David Tennant cut a stylish figure as he showed off his new beard while out in London on Monday.

The Scottish actor, 53, was snapped heading to the BBC studios, dressed in a trendy pair of tartan trousers and a cream jumper.

He kept a low profile by wearing a baseball cap and a pair of dark sunglᴀsses.

The actor debuted his beard more explicitly at the launch party for the new book Six Conversations We’re Scared To Have by Deborah Frances-White on Thursday.

David sported an equally stylish look for the event and paired a black suit jacket and trousers with a more casual t-shirt underneath.

Six Conversations We’re Scared To Have centres around Deborah Frances-White’s experience growing up in a cult.

David is set to join the author on April 30 for an in-conversation event in London, which focuses on the impact a lack of free speech and freedom of expression can have on the individual.

This comes after David was honoured as ‘one of the LGBTQ+ community’s most fierce allies and supporters’ at the British LGBT Awards last June.

He said: ‘If I’m honest, I’m a little depressed by the fact that acknowledging that everyone has the right to be who they want to be and live their life how they want to live it as long as they’re not hurting anyone else should merit any kind of special award or special mention, it’s common sense, isn’t it?’

The actor’s embracing of free speech was apparent at the BAFTAs in February, where he took a savage swipe at US President Donald Trump’s hair before describing him as a ‘villain’.

He was also notably clean-shaven at the time.

David, who was presenting the event, described The Brutalist as ‘a film about incredible architecture. In fact, it’s the boldest architecture in film this year, apart from Donald Trump’s hair in The Apprentice.’

Despite being based on the now-president’s life, the actor said he doubted Donald had even seen it.

The former Doctor Who joked: ‘Donald Trump… I’m worried.

‘I’ve said his name three times.

‘It’s like Beetlejuice – I’ve summoned him.’

The actor’s brutal takedown of the American president continued with him saying ‘Talking of villains’ before continuing to present the awards ceremony.

But while David doubts Donald Trump’s enthusiasm for the arts, he has made his own more than clear by offering to have his skull used in a production of Hamlet.

He told the Off Menu podcast that while he’d be happy to feature as a skull after acting with a real one himself, he is not sure it is even allowed anymore.

The actor said: “To be honest, I don’t think you can do it anymore.

‘There’s a lot of hoops to jump through, for various governmental organisations who perhaps frown on the idea of body parts being left to anything really other than cremation.’
