Anne Heche’s son Homer, 23, forced to sell late star’s ᴀssets to settle $4.1 million in claims

Anne Heche’s son Homer, 23, forced to sell late star’s ᴀssets to settle .1 million in claims

Anne Heche’s son Homer Laffoon has plans to sell his late mother’s ᴀssets in order to settle $4.1 million in claims against her estate.

Her eldest child, 23, was named the general administrator of her estate three months after her tragic pᴀssing at age 53 in August 2022 – just days following a car crash in Los Angeles.

According to documents obtained by Us Weekly, Homer turned in an update to the court on March 21, and stated that her estate is ‘not yet in a condition to be closed’ due to outstanding requests from creditors.

Last month in February, Homer – whom Heche welcomed with ex-husband Coleman Laffoon – stated that he had uncovered nearly $100,000 in additional ᴀssets that belonged to Anne.

In his filing last week, Laffoon stated in the documents that he has found $200K in total ᴀssets left by Heche.

The amount includes money in her bank account, acting residuals, personal property, and also corporations that were used for her business ventures.

Homer stated that ‘tangible personal property’ has since been moved to a storage facility – including the late actress’s piano.

He has plans to sell those ᴀssets through the ᴀssistance of a ‘well-respected company’ in steps to settle the legal claims against her estate.

In the latest filing, Laffoon noted that her memoir Call Me Anne – which was released in January 2023 – faced poor sales.

Homer stated that he has begun receiving her royalties from previous acting work while also continuing to search for other business ᴀssets that had belonged to Anne.

He further stated that the estate cannot be closed because the ‘anticipated value of the combined inventories and appraisals’ does not amount to the current $4.1 million in claims.

On August 5, 2022, Heche crashed her Mini Cooper into a home in Los Angeles – which resulted in a fire at the property. Anne was not freed from her vehicle until 45 minutes later.

The owners of the home – which was put on the market last year for $1.35 million after being restored – are requesting $2 million to cover the damages.

The woman who had been renting the property at the time of the crash has also requested $2 million after losing her belongings in the fire.

Her former partner, Thomas Jane, has also requested $149,106.04 from the late star’s estate after he had loaned her the money.

In 2022 before her death, he had filed a claim that he had loaned her $157,000 that had been unpaid at the time along with accrued interest. In the request, Jane has also stated that he is owed $18.77 in additional interest per day.

Last year in April 2024, Homer had claimed that her estate could not cover the millions that have been requested following her pᴀssing in August 2022.

And in February of this year, Homer uncovered nearly $100,000 in additional ᴀssets belonging to the late actress – more than two years after her death.

He had submitted a legal filing that included an updated list of Heche’s ᴀssets, according to InTouch, that are worth ‘an estimated $92,500.’

Homer listed each ᴀsset and its reported worth – the highest being ‘100 percent ownership in Celestia Films worth $50,000.’

Other ᴀssets included: ’50 percent ownership in Anne & Heather Ink LLC and $25,000 in household furniture located in a condo’ in Downtown Los Angeles.

Anne & Heather Ink LLC is believed to be ᴀssociated with Heche’s Better Together with Anne & Heather podcast, which she co-hosted with her friend Heather Duffy from 2020 until her untimely 2022 death, but the LLC’s worth was not noted.

Homer also listed various royalties and residual income totaling $16,500 that the estate has earned.

According to the filing obtained by InTouch, the estate ‘earned $10,000 in residual income, $1,500 in royalties from Anne’s 2001 memoir, Call Me Crazy, and $5,000 in royalties from Anne’s 2023 follow up book, Call Me Anne.

Homer’s filing comes nearly one year after he claimed that his mother’s estate is ‘not yet in a condition to be closed,’ as per documents obtained by People in April 2024, and that it cannot afford to pay the outstanding debt.

Homer claimed that his mother’s estate consists of a ‘modest bank account, royalty payments and other residual income from pre-death projects…’

In the docs, Homer said that Heche also had a ‘corporation’ in which she was ‘the sole shareholder’ that she used for developing ‘projects’ related to her acting career, and an ‘LLC membership interest’ for a podcast that she ‘helped create,’ along with some ‘tangible personal property items’ of some value.

The report indicated that only some of the ᴀssets have so far been valued and were worth around $110,000. It was not made clear what remained to be valued or how much the estate would be worth all together.

Without enough funds to cover the costs from Heche’s creditors, Homer said that he has been ‘actively engaged in attempts to negotiate appropriate settlements of the claims against the Estate.’

According to him, his efforts involved ‘substantial meet and confer efforts with the creditors in an attempt to avoid protracted and expensive litigation.’

Homer previously said that he was ‘cautiously optimistic that the creditor claims can all be resolved fairly and without litigation.’

In the direct aftermath of the crash, Heche was initially transported to the Ronald Regan UCLA Medical Center emergency room, and subsequently taken to Grossman Burn Center at West Hills Hospital and Medical Center.

Heche was being probed for felony DUI in the incident, but authorities scuttled any legal maneuvers in that vein following her pᴀssing.

The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner–Coroner determined Heche’s cause of death was a result of injuries from the auto accident, E! News reported, citing official records.

Heche suffered inhalation and thermal injuries, a fractured sternum, a lacerated kidney and severe burns to more than 10 percent of her body, coroners said.

The late actress was previously married to Coleman Laffoon from 2001 until their divorce was finalized in 2009. During the course of their relationship, the pair welcomed son Homer.

She later began dating James Tupper until their split in 2018 – and they also welcomed a son named Atlas.

After her split from Tupper, she began a relationship with Thomas Jane but they separated before her tragic car crash.

After the news of her death was announced, Homer shared an emotional tribute to his late mother and expressed that he hoped she was ‘free from pain.’

‘Hopefully my mom is free from pain and beginning to explore what I like to imagine as her eternal freedom.’

Homer added, ‘Over those six days, thousands of friends, family, and fans made their hearts known to me.

‘I am grateful for their love, as I am for the support of my Dad, Coley, and my stepmom Alexi who continue to be my rock during this time. Rest In Peace Mom, I love you.’
