The Apprentice fans claim Lord Sugar is ‘trying to audition for ANOTHER iconic show’ in toe-curling shopping channel task – as they joke ‘I’d love to see the planning meeting for that!’

He’s best known as the frontman of his iconic BBC show, with decades of business knowhow under his belt.

But following Thursday’s episode of The Apprentice, viewers were quick to spot that Lord Alan Sugar appeared to be focused on joining a wholly different show.

The latest episode of the BBC show saw the eight remaining candidates face the legendary TV Shopping Channel tasks, which sees them attempt to flog a variety of products to viewers.

It was no surprise that some viewers were left cringing by candidates’ attempts to sell items, ranging from an air fryer to a kayak, with Max England eventually fired after his team, Parallel lost out in the task.

And in a surprise addition to this series, as the candidates went live on air, viewers saw Lord Sugar also tuning in from his mansion, alongside his grandson Joe.

Offering his own commentary on candidates’ mixed attempts to sell the products, fans were quick to claim he was auditioning for the Channel 4 show Gogglebox.

Former tennis player Max, who hails from Surrey, decided to bring Dean Franklin and Chisola Chitambala back into the boardroom, which meant that Amber-Rose Badrudin was free to head home to the house.

During Thursday’s episode, Lord Sugar told the businessman: ‘Max hasn’t impressed me very much.

‘Max made quite a lot of mistakes, picking the wrong things, picking things that he liked…

‘Max I’m going to hold you accountable and responsible for the failure of this task. It is regretful, but you’re fired.’

Speaking exclusively to MailOnline about his departure, Max said: ‘I’m proud of my efforts on the task.’

He continued: ‘I made the best decisions with the information I had at the time, and I can be proud of that.

‘And unfortunately, on this occasion, it wasn’t enough.

‘I would have loved for it [to stay in the compeтιтion], but, yeah, I can leave my head held high, and I left everything out there.’

The Apprentice airs on BBC One.
