The Apprentice star Melica Moshiri has revealed that appearing on the BBC show has lost her a five-figure salary and now it’s down to zero.

The owner of a tech recruitment company SkillTorch was one of the latest entrepreneurs to be booted off the current 19th series of the compeтιтion.

Last Thursday Melica and Emma Street heard the dreaded words ‘You’re fired’ from Lord Alan Sugar after failing to produce a successful H๏τ sauce.

Not only did Melica miss out on the £250,000 investment, but her stint on the programme made her lose money within her business, after being warned about the  devastating potential outcome.

According to Metro, her company had a total capital of £38,000 in 2023, but ‘filming last year halted that figure’.

Speaking with the publication, Melica explained: ‘I was prepared for that and I knew that was to come, but it wasn’t going to stop me

‘My belief is, you’ll only know if something goes wrong or doesn’t if you try it.’

She added: ‘You’re shutting down the business, going from making five figures a month to then zero in one month.

‘So my graph in terms of business performance has been [drastically up and down] in the last year.

‘It’s because I’ve been on the show and they made that very clear when we applied that that is what’s going to happen and I knew to be prepared to either accept it or walk away.

‘I’m sure people did drop out for those reasons, because it is going to impact you.

‘But the way I looked at it is that in the long term, it’s going to give me a platform, it’s a lifetime experience that I don’t think everyone will get to experience, so I was very prepared to do that.

‘At the end of the day, life is not all about money, it’s about what experiences you have, and that’s what I’ve always believed in.’

The latest episode of The Apprentice saw the two teams battle it out for the best H๏τ sauce.

But unfortunately a person from each team was going to be sent home after failing to impress Lord Sugar.

The businesswoman opened up about her departure from the show in an exclusive chat with MailOnline last week.

Melica hit back: ‘Overall, our team should have won, because our sauce was because, you know, have consistency. It was edible. It did actually taste nice, although it was very H๏τ, people did like it.

‘But the other team, their sauce wasn’t consistent. You know, you couldn’t even get out the bottle.

‘I think if we added one more ingredient in, we would have probably won that task.

‘Whether I was the right person to be fired… I think if Amber had brought in different people then no, but because she brought in Dean and myself, I don’t think Lord Sugar had a choice.

‘And what he did say to me in the boardroom is that I’m going [with] my gut instinct, I might be making a big mistake ‘Melica you’re fired’, which is great.

‘I actually liked that. I thought was a real compliment. But I think he had a very hard decision.

‘I find he generally likes people taking accountability for things… I took accountability for me being disruptive.’

‘At the end of the day, life is not all about money, it’s about what experiences you have, and that’s what I’ve always believed in.’

Despite totally believing in herself, she did recall the moment that she knew that she was going to be the one sent home.

Lord Sugar asked her who she thought should go home – and she decided to brutally say both of her team mates, Amber and Dean.

‘When he asked me, at that point, I knew he was gonna point the finger at me. Yes. Knew it,’ Melica said.

‘The fact he asked me, I knew he was just gonna point the finger at me.

‘But rather than just saying no, saying, “No, do you know what? It’s me.”

‘I’ll just say both of them.’

And earlier this week it was revealed that the star didn’t speak for years following a traumatic dog attack when she was younger.

Melica, who has Iranian parents and grew up in the UK alongside her brother and sister, said: ‘Before I was two I started to speak but it wasn’t much.

‘At home my family would speak a mixture of English and Farsi, which may have been a contributing factor.

‘Then when I was two I was bitten on the hand by a dog. It really terrified me to the point that I couldn’t go near dogs until I was 12.

‘From that moment, I think because of the trauma, I didn’t speak at all for several years. I was almost completely mute until I got help.

‘My parents knew I couldn’t talk but I think they always had the belief I would be OK and I still had friends.’

The Apprentice airs Thursdays at 9pm on BBC1.
