Sara Davies revealed the ‘terrifying’ reality of working with ‘really scary’ Deborah Meaden on Dragons’ Den – just weeks after quitting the beloved BBC show.

The businesswoman appeared on Loose Women on Thursday alongside Nadia Sawalha, Kaye Adams, GK Barry and Jane Moor.

She recently announced that she will be ‘stepping away’ from the BBC show in a touching statement on social media earlier this month.

On Loose Women, Sara opened up what it is like to work with fellow Dragon, Deborah Meaden.

‘It was terrifying. You’ve met Deborah, she’s really scary but she’s the most incredible woman and I’ve looked up to her for years and years in my career and then she’s there being all scary in the chair next to me and I’m trying to act like I’m all cool when really I’m not, I’m terrified,’ she explained.

Sara was full of praise for Deborah and revealed she learnt a lot from her during the show.

‘She’s such an insтιтution, she’s got all of this knowledge and she’s really firm and fair and a phenomenal investor as well as an incredible businesswoman so I’ve learnt so much,’ the former Dragon said.

The TV star shared they started a ‘walking club’ together during the last season of Dragons’ Den and would ‘put the world to rights, just us two girls.’

Sara also revealed what went down in the Dragons’ Den studio on her very first day on set with Deborah.

‘It was my first ever day on the Den’ Sara said as she recalled how a food truck offered food to the Dragons.

‘As soon as they said, “Right you can get some food,” Touker gets up and he’s running in there, and I went “Woah, ladies first” and Deborah just went “Er we are not ladies or gentleman here, we are all dragons, we are all the same,”‘ Sara explained.

Sara announced her departure from the Den with a statement on Facebook and penned: ‘Little update from me…

‘As this last run of Dragons’ comes to an end I have to say I’ve loved every minute of this series so far and I’m so proud of the businesses I’ve invested in this year!

‘As a lot of you will know, I’ve taken up my position again as CEO of Crafter’s Companion and my business is my big priority this year.

‘And when I commit to a business, I really commit, which is why I find Dragons’ Den such a rewarding role.

‘As well as filming an incredible show, being a Dragon requires so much dedication and time behind the scenes as you join the life of each business you invest in.

‘It means seeing through your investment and committing to your part in that organisation.

‘It’s so much more than a TV show. That’s why I’ve taken the decision to step away from the Den for now, to focus on my own business, which was my first baby!

‘So I won’t be filming with the team this year for the next series.

‘Sending so much love to my fellow Dragons and the amazing team behind it all.

‘In the meantime, you can still catch me in the second half of this series of Dragons’ Den later in the year – it will not disappoint!’

Loose Women airs weekdays on ITV1 from 12:30pm and is available to stream on ITVX.
