Amber Le Bon detailed her traumatic 40-hour labour after revealing on Monday she has welcomed her first child. 

The model, 35 – who is the daughter of Duran Duran frontman Simon Le Bon – and her boyfriend Ben Mercer privately welcomed their son Sasha Echo Le Bon Mercer into the world on January 30. 

But in an interview with HELLO! magazine Amber opened up about her ‘hairy’ labour which saw her 7lb 6oz son delivered with forceps after a grueling 40-hour push. 

Amber, who announced the news with the publication, said: ‘And then the last ten minutes got a bit hairy and I was whipped over to the labour ward for a forceps delivery, because Sasha was quite tired by then. 

‘Ben cut the cord, and they put Sasha on my chest. I was in a bit of shock, and I couldn’t quite believe it, but I had this H๏τ little human being on my chest, and I thought: ”Wow, he’s really here”.’

Amber had both Ben and her mother by her side to support her through the long delivery as she welcomed her newborn at London’s Chelsea and Westminster Hospital.

She said that her partner was ‘brilliant’ during the delivery, which she said took place while sound effects of a thunderstorm played on a set of speakers.

Amber explained how Ben cut the cord and the ‘H๏τ little human’ was placed on her chest as she felt in a state of shock, before bursting into tears.

During her third trimester, Amber joined her dad on Duran Duran’s U.S. tour and her son has already shown himself to be a Duran Duran fan.

Amber nicknamed her bump ‘Sparkles’ because of all of the glitzy dresses she wore on the tour, where her unborn baby ‘kicked along to the older songs’.

Amber announced she is expecting as she shared sweet Instagram snaps of her growing bump on November 7. 

She looked glowing and radiant as she cradled her blossoming baby bump while sharing her pregnancy to the world.

The beauty captioned her post: ‘[Swipe to the end for a big surprise] My favourite look whilst I was on the @duranduran tour. Someone coming soon …’

The brunette beauty look incredible as she attended the Stone & Mason AW24 collection dinner at Julies in Holland Park.

She slipped into a LBD with vibrant leopard print sleeves as she sipped on Wild Idol non-alcoholic sparkling wine.

Following the announcement, Amber’s boyfriend was revealed as TikTok creator and former rugby player Ben Merce.

Amber had not previously disclosed who the father of her child is until she revealed the news of the birth this week.

Ben previously played professional rugby before switching up his career to writing and has also developed a huge social media following for his book content.

The author has so far written four books, the first of which was a No.1 Amazon bestseller and nominated for William Hill Sports Book of the Year 2020,  exploring what life is like for pro sportsmen outside the limelight.

His second book, Our Race, focuses on the Great Britain 4x100m Relay Team, who in 2004 had ‘never been worse’ until they went to the Olympic Games in Athens.

Meanwhile, Endgame is handbook for athletes navigating the end of professional sport and helps to athletes to navigate career transition.

His latest book, Superstrengths, is also a handbook of sorts which helps to guide people to ‘stand out in a world of infinite choice’. 

On his website, Ben also explains that he writes a weekly newsletter discussing what he is thinking or learning about, or behind the scenes with his book and content.

He says: ‘I’ve written, narrated and produced books, consulted on projects at the highest levels of professional sport and created content with some of the biggest brands in the world.’ 

Before becoming an author and content creator, Ben was a pro rugby player but admits it ‘never really amounted to what I imagined it would’.

Detailing his journey, he revealed he played for and captained both his school and university teams. He was spotted to join Bath Academy while at school.

Alongside captaining his uni team, he also ended up playing for the Newcastle Falcons Academy and Blaydon RFC during this time.

Ben says one of his biggest disappointments was playing age group rugby for England.  He was selected for England Students during his time at university but sadly sustained a hamstring injury which stopped him playing.

Amber is the daughter of Duran Duran frontman Simon, 66, and supermodel Yasmin Le Bon, 60. 

Amber followed in her mother’s footsteps by venturing into the modelling world throughout her career. 

The couple also have two other grown up daughters Saffron, 33, and 30-year-old Tallulah. 

Last year Yasmin said she and her husband Simon ‘don’t feel the need to renew their vows’ after their ‘ramshackle wedding’ nearly 36 years ago.

Despite marrying the musician in 1985, the supermodel says she is still besotted with her husband – and though she was tempted to walk down the aisle again, the A-list couple ‘couldn’t be bothered’ to organise a party.
