Who Wants To Be A Millionaire contestant calls on Jeremy Clarkson after he is left struggling with geography question – but do you know the answer?

A Who Wants To Be A Millionaire contestant was forced to seek help from host Jeremy Clarkson after he was left struggling with a tough geography question on Sunday night’s episode.

Matthew Trantor managed to speed through the ITV quiz until the presenter asked the following question: ‘Dijon is the capital of which historic French region?’

The contestant tried to think through the correct answer in a bid to scoop at least £64,000 – but ended up asking Jeremy for help.

The possible options were: ‘Normandy, Brittany, Limousin and Burgundy,’ yet Matthew told Jeremy bluntly: ‘I don’t know the answer to this.’

‘I have a phone-a-friend that may know this but I also think you [to Jeremy] have spent quite a lot of time in France. So I’d like to ask you,’ the game show contestant said.

But the Top Gear host wasn’t able to help him at that point and replied: ‘Okay, so here’s what I think, my fastest ever speeding ticket I got in Dijon.

‘I was going so fast that I can’t remember where it is!’

Jeremy did help Matthew out though telling him it was ‘one hundred percent not in Normandy or Brittany, I know both of those very well.’

The host went onto say he could draw Matthew a map as the two tried to work out if their French geography could help them.

Eventually Jeremy said he couldn’t help any further though, leading Matthew to use up another lifeline – his Phone A Friend – to call his schoolfriend Josh.

Josh was also unsure, leading Matthew to use his Ask The Audience lifeline. 55% of the audience stumped for Burgundy whilst 40% went for Limousin.

‘£32,000 is a nice amount of money,’ admitted a dejected Matthew, only to muse ‘But 64,000 is getting to the exciting pot, I think I’m going to play. I’m going to say Burgundy, final answer.’

Matthew guessed right, seeming speechless as Jeremy told him the news.

His next question, for £125,000 was ‘which of these words coined by famous children’s authors appeared in print first.’

The options were A: Snozzcumber B: Heffalump C: Chortled D: Quaffle.

‘Literature isn’t my strong point, especially not children’s literature. I literally have nothing to go off,’ admitted Matthew. ‘So with no regrets I am going to walk away.’

The correct answer was C: Chortled.

Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? continues on ITV at 9pm on Sundays.
