Coronation Street actor Colson Smith accidentally revealed a major spoiler in his farewell post, after being dropped from the ITV soap after 14 years.

Colson, who has played Craig Tinker since 2011, shared a goodbye snap from the Rovers Return set – unintentionally exposing a For Sale sign in the background. 

The slip-up confirmed that the pub will be sold in upcoming episodes, marking a huge shake-up for Weatherfield.

Jenny Connor, the current landlady, is set to lose ownership as Carla Connor demands repayment of the stolen money used to buy it. 

With Carla now facing medical costs, she is reportedly forcing Jenny to sell, paving the way for a new owner behind the bar.

Meanwhile, Corrie fans have also said goodbye to Daisy actress Charlotte Jordan, who recently filmed her final scenes after four years on the show.

Colson’s departure was first revealed in January, and on Friday night, his co-stars threw him a police-themed send-off. 

The actor, whose character is a police officer, was joined by former castmate Brooke Vincent and fellow soap stars Channique Sterling-Brown, Lucy Fallon, and Andy Whyment, who all shared emotional tributes.

Andy, who has been on Corrie for 24 years playing Kirk, admitted Smith’s exit hit him hard, saying he had watched him grow from a child actor into a ‘caring, loving man.’

He wrote: ‘Last night we had @colsonjsmith’s Coronation Street leaving party.

‘I’ve seen a lot of people leave the show over the 24 years I’ve been there but I can honestly say this one has hit me so hard, I’ve watched you grow from the chubby ginger kid with Daryl the rat when you were 12 years of age to the caring loving man you are today, I know we won’t be working together anymore but I’ll always be here as a friend.

‘Go out there and smash it as I know you will, but I as will millions of people miss PC Craig Tinker ❤️x’

Colson replied: ‘Nothing but love and respect Andy. The perfect way for it to end!’ 

Meanwhile Brooke who played played Sophie Webster posted a slew of sweet throwback snaps and wrote: ‘A million memories together ❤️ my work little/ big brother, I adore you, I am so excited for your next adventure.

Colson has played Craig Tinker since 2011, whereas Brooke appeared in the soap as one of the Webster sisters from 2004 to 2019

During an episode of his podcast with Corrie co-stars Jack P. Shepherd and Ben Price, Colson spoke about his departure. 

He revealed he had known since October and sensed it was coming when he was called into a late-night meeting with the show’s boss. 

Jack and Ben, he said, were waiting outside, anxiously pacing and looking at the door.

After the meeting, Colson admitted the hardest moment was walking back into the green room, where his co-stars were waiting. 

He told them before immediately suggesting they head to Nando’s.

He said: ‘The hardest bit was walking down the stairs knowing you two were there. I just stood in the doorway of the green room and just looked at you two.’

Despite leaving, Colson expressed graтιтude for his time on the show, saying he had ‘loved every single second’ and learned everything about life from Corrie. 

Whilst admitting that he was sad to leave, he teased that that it was just ‘the end of the beginning’ and hinted at new opportunities ahead.

Talking about his time on the show, he told his Instagram followers: ‘Autumn last year I was told that Craig Tinkers time on the Cobbles is to come to end in 2025. 

Fellow soap stars Lucy Fallon also shared a sweet picture of the two friends enjoying their night and signed off with a salute

Channique Sterling-Brown who currently plays Dee-Dee Bailey in the soap was also seen enjoying the send off as she playfully posed on Colson’s lap during the party

Despite leaving, Colson expressed graтιтude for his time on the show, telling his Instagram followers that he had ‘loved every single second’ and learned everything about life from Corrie

‘I’ve LOVED every single second of my 14 year stay as a resident on the GREATEST street in the world.’

He added: “I feel incredibly lucky to have grown up in, on and around Coronation Street. I’ve learnt pretty much everything about life from the people who call it home. 

‘I’m excited to play out the exit story for Our Craigy. For Me, this is just the end of the beginning. I genuinely can’t wait to see what chapter 2 has in store for me. LONG LIVE THE COBBLES!”

Colson’s final scenes will air later this year.
