Selena Gomez looked back on a ‘mortifying’ moment that occurred during the early days of her and fiancé Benny Blanco’s relationship.
As they reflected on their love story while appearing on Spotify’s Countdown To, ahead of the release of their album I Said I Love You First on Friday, Blanco, 37, asked his bride-to-be, 32, if she remembered the ‘first party’ they attended together.
‘I don’t know if this was the first but it was actually really funny. As a couple we went to Taylor’s [Swift] party after some awards show,’ Gomez revealed.
Despite feeling excited to bring her partner to the star-studded soirée, Gomez said she instantly regretted their painfully early arrival.
‘I don’t know it was kind of cute, but I was mortified. Apparently cool people don’t show up to parties on time,’ the singer mused.
Blanco proceeded to poke fun at his partner for being a stickler for punctuality.

‘We’re the first people at every single party when I go with you. You show up when like my mother shows up to a party,’ he teased.
Blanco, then, noted that when they went to that after-party, ‘no one knew’ they were dating yet and they were still ‘hiding’ their relationship.

After Gomez and Blanco announced their engagement, Swift was among the first of her friends to react to the exciting news as she jokingly volunteered to be ‘the flower girl.’
On Thursday, Blanco also revealed that dating Gomez has made him a Swiftie.
‘I honestly didn’t know … before we started dating, like obviously, I was aware of Taylor Swift’s music,’ he explained on H๏τ Ones. ‘But I wasn’t like a true Swiftie until I was with [Selena].’
Now, he says he’ll ask Gomez to put on random songs that the 14-time Grammy winner released ‘from 10 years ago’ when they’re in car.
‘They’re timeless, what can I say,’ the Only Murders in the Building actress said of her longtime pal’s music.
Swift, who is dating Travis Kelce, and Gomez have been friends for more than 17 years.

Back in 2008, the pair kicked off their longstanding friendship when Taylor was dating Joe and Selena was dating Nick.
Selena previously remarked that her friendship with Swift was ‘the best thing we got out of those relationships’ during a KIIS FM UK interview in 2017.
Since then, the duo have attended many red carpets, many award shows, and celebrated a number of birthdays together.
Selena has also made surprise appearances at Taylor’s concert tours including Speak Now and Reputation.

In 2023, Gomez attended Swift’s concert in Los Angeles as well as Arlington, Texas amid her ongoing, career-spanning Eras Tour with her younger sister, Gracie.
That same year, Gomez accidentally started a temporary feud with her friend Francia Raisa after she called Taylor her ‘only friend in the industry’ during an interview with Rolling Stone.
Francia, who donated a kidney to Selena, was apparently upset with Selena, though the Wizards Of Waverly Place star later clarified that she was referring to the music industry, which didn’t mean that Francia couldn’t still be a good friend in the film and television industry.
Fans also though that a feud was brewing after Francia wasn’t mentioned anywhere in Selena’s documentary My Mind & Me, but they have since made steps to repair their friendship.
