TV fans have all shared the same complaint about Bradley Walsh’s new show as he trades The Chase for a very different series.

Best known for hosting the popular ITV quiz show and its various spin-offs, the presenter has also fronted several other programmes, including Wheel of Fortune and Blankety Blank.

Now, Bradley has ventured into new territory that doesn’t involve answering questions and winning cash prizes at all.

He has jetted off to Egypt in a three-part series on Sky History, Bradley Wash: Egypt’s Cosmic Code.

The new show aired on Tuesday and saw Bradley visit the country for the first time to delve into the history of the pyramids and Ancient Egyptians.

However, some TV watchers have hit out at the decision to put the presenter at the front of such a specialised topic.

One penned on X: ‘The Chase’s Bradley Walsh?! Not sure he’s the right fit for an educational program.’

Another commented: ‘Who decides Bradley Walsh is the person to tell us about this? No wonder Sky’s so expensive, money they pay these people, just get an expert to present it.’

Someone else wrote: ‘Bradley Walsh shows his intelligence and enquiring mind why the so-called ‘ expert’ comes across as totally dumb…’

A fourth said: ”Idea for a programme: Send Bradley Walsh from TV’s ‘The Chase’ to Egypt to investigate the age of the Sphinx and who built the pyramids. An Indiana Jones hat is a requirement.”

While others were supportive and one commented: ‘Watching ‘Bradley Walsh: Egypt’s cosmic code’ on Sky History and it’s brilliant. He’s such a likeable guy!’

Bradley’s interest in ancient engineering stems from his early career as an apprentice engineer for Rolls Royce.

Sky have also recruited an ‘expert guide’ to explain the concepts to viewers and the presenter, ‘as the perfect foil for Bradley and his ideas,’ according to a synopsis.

A TV insider previously told The Sun: ‘This isn’t necessarily the field of expertise most viewers would imagine him having, but he is obsessed with this chapter of ancient history.

‘He’s just thrilled to have bagged a documentary where he gets to indulge the great pᴀssion, even if it doesn’t quite fit in with his current line-up of shows.’

It comes after Bradley was reportedly offered a huge pay rise to stay on The Chase last year.

He has fronted the ITV1 teatime quiz show since since its inception in 2009 and the series still regularly pulls in audiences of up to five million.

The exact amount he received was not known, but now bosses have reportedly bumped up his salary amid fears he could quit.

A source told The Sun: ‘Bradley is one of the network’s most popular presenters and is hugely likeable.

‘During negotiations for his contract to be renewed, bosses at ITV were concerned he might quit if he wasn’t happy with his package.

‘There was a real concern he might walk away.’

The show is approaching 16 years on air and insiders told the outlet that everyone at the broadcaster is ‘delighted’ that Bradley has decided to stay.

Bradley has been a mainstay on ITV for years, as he fronted Wheel of Fortune for them in the late 1990s.

In the early 2000s, he appeared as Underworld boss Danny Baldwin on their flagship soap but has also worked extensively for the BBC.

He played Graham O’Brien in their sci-fi series Doctor Who, and has also hosted a revival of Blankety Blank for them in recent years.

Bradley and his son Barney hosted the BBC’s acclaimed revival of Gladiators in 2024 and the show has been renewed for a second series.

In 2022, he returned to drama with his role on the short-lived reboot of The Larkins for ITV.
