Sam Thompson received break up advice from Celebs Go Dating star Paul Brunson as the pair discussed self esteem and self worth in a candid chat on Monday. 

The pair, who have been friends for years, sat down together on Sam’s Staying Relevant podcast as Paul filled in for Pete Wicks while he holidays in Dubai. 

And opening up about his feelings following his split from Zara McDermott, Sam, 32, admitted he is ‘terrified’ of where his life is going as he confessed viewers were eager for Paul to help counsel him through his breakup. 

It was revealed by MailOnline that Sam and Zara, 28, separated in December after five years together with Zara recently revealing she has moved out of their Chelsea home.

Admitting fans were concerned for him, Sam told Paul: ‘I went through a breakup and everyone keeps saying they can see sadness behind the eyes.’

He added: ‘I’m terrified about where I am going Paul. The way I see it I am a plane and the pilot has pᴀssed out in the cockpit and they are like: “Does anyone know how to fly a plane?”‘

Admitting fans were concerned for him, Sam told Paul: ‘I went through a breakup and everyone keeps saying they can see sadness behind the eyes’

Imparting his wisdom on the former Made In Chelsea star, Paul advised: ‘The first thing you have to do is identify the emotion and sit in it,’ as Sam interrupted: ‘Horrible’. 

Getting into a deep conversation about self love and self esteem, Paul explained: ‘Self love is like the roots of the tree and self esteem is like the trunk of the tree.’

He then asked the star: ‘What are you doing Sam to self-love?’ 

Sam then confessed he isn’t able to think about dating again and doesn’t want to try and fill the relationship void in his life. 

He explained: ‘Not much to be honest with you. I suppose a lot of people look for validation in other people and they look for the other person instantly to fill that hole. I can’t do that.’

Paul encouraged Sam to identify his values in life, as he described the values as the ‘sunlight and nutrients’ needed to help grow self-esteem and self-love. 

He asked the star: ‘What are your values outside of creativity?’ as Sam replied: ‘I mean I love home, I am a real home body. I love my cats and being around my family and being in my home, I barely ever go out.’

Paul added: ‘Spend time with your family, spend time creating. Tap into some of the things you loved as a boy. Tap into those and spend time doing those and that is going to increase the self esteem and self worth which is what you need right now.’

Comparing himself to the attractive hunky Pete Wicks, Paul then reᴀssured Sam: ‘No you do not need to change, Sam you are on the rise right now. You are emerging as the Sєxy one.

He added: ‘I am telling you you are good. You continue to be you. People love you for you.’

It comes after Sam returned to social media last week for the first time since his ex Zara was linked to a boyband star.

Fans have been speculating that Zara could be dating singer Louis Tomlinson, Sam took to his Instagram Stories to share a sweet message with his fans.  

Sam wrote: ‘Today’s gonna be great!’ and went onto share with his followers that tickets for his upcoming Staying Relevant live show had gone on sale.

It comes following speculation that Zara, 28, may have moved on with former One Direction star and singer Louis, 33.

It comes after Zara and Lucien Laviscount set tongues wagging at the BRITs earlier this month after they were spotted getting cosy at the star-studded music bash.

The newly single Zara was seated next to the Emily in Paris heartthrob for the entire ceremony and lapped up the attention she received from him.

An insider said: ‘Lucien was making his move. He was chatting her up all night, whispering in her ear and dancing with her.

‘He seemed really smitten. Zara clearly enjoyed his company as she couldn’t stop smiling and laughing.’

Awkwardly her ex Sam was seated just a few tables away from the Love Island beauty, as she dazzled in a stunning white gown with feather detailing which boasted a daring thigh high split.

He was joined on the Hits radio exclusive table with his best pal Pete, former Love Islander Olivia Attwood, and actress Gemma Atkinson.
