Jubilant Ant and Dec roared in celebration as Newcastle beat Liverpool at Wembley to lift the Carabao Cup on Sunday.

Newcastle United secured their first major trophy since they won the 1955 FA Cup final; ending a 70-year trophy drought for the Toon.

Saturday Night Takeaway hosts, and Newcastle natives, Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly were seen celebrating as Dan Burn scored the first in the game just moments before half-time.

Snaps showed the pair proudly sporting their Newcastle scarves as they tentatively watched on from the stands.

Ant and Dec then erupted as Newcastle scored their first goal, only to secure another soon after.

The Magpies ended their 70-year trophy drought against Arne Slot’s imperious Reds, who were bounced out of the Champions League by PSG in the midweek.

After years, and years, and years of hurt at Wembley, Newcastle ended their curse and won a domestic trophy.

The black and white end of Wembley absolutely erupted as the Liverpool end emptied.

The match saw a nervy end as Liverpool scored a last-minute goal to bring it to 2-1 but soon the whistle was blown and Newcastle were victorious.

It was Newcastle’s second chance in three years to win the EFL Cup under Eddie Howe, after suffering a 2-0 defeat by Manchester United in 2023’s final.

On the night before that game, the Toon took to Trafalgar Square to make their presence felt in London with a mᴀssive turnout.

I’m A Celeb stars Ant and Dec reportedly helped to promote the Saudi Public Investment Fund’s takeover of Newcastle United, it was revealed in October.

The Tyneside stars were asked to promote an article about opposition to the Premier League failing to approve the Saudi Public Investment Fund’s takeover, it has been reported.

In WhatsApp messages The Telegraph report they have seen, former Magpies director Amanda Staveley promised that Ant and Dec would ‘push’ the article – and within four minutes they had shared it on Twitter.

The article in October 2020 from the Shields Gazette was about a supporters’ group claiming that the Premier League was acting against UK anti-compeтιтion law by delaying the takeover.

According to The Telegraph, two days later Ant and Dec’s account on the platform, which is now called X, shared another article from the same publication answering questions about the progress of the takeover.

In the summer of 2020 the Premier League refused to sanction the takeover, which involved a consortium backed by the Public Investment Fund (PIF) of Saudi Arabia, amid concerns over links to the Saudi state.
