Jack Quaid’s Novocaine leads slowest box office weekend of the year with $8.7M debut

Jack Quaid’s Novocaine leads slowest box office weekend of the year with .7M debut

Novocaine topped the US box office over the weekend, but came in well below expectations, as did the rest of the latest offerings from Hollywood studios.

The thriller starring Jack Quaid as a young man, who can’t feel any pain due to his rare genetic makeup, on a mission to rescue the girl of his dreams from kidnappers.

The film received an 82-percent critics ratings on Rotten Tomatoes with an even warmer reaction from audiences, who gave a score of 89.

Novocaine pulled in $8.7 million over the weekend, the lowest box office take since Argylle’s second-weekend in February 2024, with only $6.25 million, according to The Numbers.

The poor box office may have been the result of a weekend of dangerous and ᴅᴇᴀᴅly storms that have killed at least 34 people across the US.

Last week’s champ, Mickey 17, starring Robert Pattinson as an ‘expendable’ reprint trying to colonize a dangerous ice planet, dropped to second place, digging up $7.51 million.

The thriller, which also features the talents of Pierce Brosnan, Naomie Harris, Regé-Jean Page and Marisa Abela received a 97-percent review from the critics at Rotten Tomatoes, but the audience score was much lower, which perhaps foreshadowed its disappointing debut of a mere $7.5 million.
