A Place In The Sun viewers have blasted a ‘shameless’ couple for giving them ‘second-hand embarrᴀssment’ after a property tour on the Channel 4 show on Wednesday. 

Earlier this week viewers saw property expert Lee Juggurnauth help married couple Steve and Heather, who live in County Londonderry, find their dream property in Valencia, Spain.

The pair, who plan on moving permanently over to Spain, explained that they had a budget of £240,000 for a two/three bedroom pad with plenty of tick boxes. 

They were looking for a home that had space for their three pooches and an annex that has space for their nine children, 18 grandchildren, four great grandchildren. 

The search didn’t get off to a good start with the first property, but then the second and third were a hit.

However it was the fourth that caught their eye in the end.

The asking price was just under £237,000, meaning that it was under their budget and Lee told them that the owners could have some wiggle room. 

They made it very clear that they were interested in making it their own. 

At the end of the instalment, Steve and Heather revealed that they wanted to make an offer on the property. 

‘At the end of our search, we had one solid contender… What did you decide?’ Lee asked them. 

Steve explained: ‘We started chatting about how possibly what we might have to possibly do. There is a bit of work there to be done.’

Heather added: ‘The little casita is one bedroom, a little shower room, but there’s no kitchen at all. 

‘So really we’d possibly need to extend it a little if we’re going to use it as an annex.’ 

It ticked off all the boxes – including having an annex for their family to stay in

Lee was keen to know if they were willing to put an offer in. 

He explained: ‘The property was on the market for just under £237,000. 

‘What offer would you like to put forward?’ 

The pair explained they wanted to start off at £195,000. 

Lee winced: ‘Significantly lower  than the asking price…’

Heather explained: ‘Again, in the main house, there’s an extension on the main house, and we would be using it more as an annex, we think. For family.

‘So we’d have to put a small kitchen in there. So that’s more expense again for it to work for us.’

Lee explained to them ‘we can only try,’ but it didn’t sound promising and the offer was promptly rejected.

Heather said: ‘I don’t think we’d like to lose it in some ways. We could go up…’

They gave another offer of £225,000 and Lee put it forward. 

The offer was put on the table and Lee explained that it put them in a ‘very good position’, but unfortunately it was rejected it and countered with £229,000. 

They decided to stick with their offer of £225,000 and said ‘if it’s to be, it’s to be’. 

Some watching at home were left scratching their head over their decision. 

One wrote on X: ‘2nd hand embarrᴀssment for the 195k offer.’

Another simply questioned: ‘195k?’ 

A third chimed in: ‘Absolutely shameless!’

While a fourth echoed: ‘The nerve of that offer, couldn’t be me.’
