Sabrina Carpenter wearily declared that ‘Irish boys are hard work’ to a Dublin audience last week, but Barry Keoghan’s ex-girlfriend remains charmed by all-things Irish.

I hear the American pop star visited Irish pub The Devonshire in Soho on Sunday after performing at The 02 in east London.

‘We had Sabrina Carpenter in here the other night,’ confirms The Devonshire’s Sligo-born co-owner, Oisin Rogers.

He won’t tell me whether the Espresso singer, 25, sang at his pub, but Ed Sheeran, a regular, is said to have played a ‘secret’ gig there last week.

Double-Grammy winner Sabrina is currently on the European leg of her Short n’ Sweet Tour. 

There are rumours that she’s rekindling her romance with Saltburn star Keoghan, 32, who split up with his girlfriend when their child was 15 months old.

And he has denied claims that he had cheated on Sabrina with ‘influencer’ Breckie Hill.

Oisin says of his fellow countryman: ‘You wouldn’t want him going out with your daughter, would you?’

It comes after Sabrina made a scathing reference to Barry during her recent concert in Dublin where she performed two sold-out shows at the 3Arena.

Before she sang her hit Please, Please, Please which was written about Keoghan she made a statement.

‘Dublin, it’s so lovely to be here. You all look and sound amazing. But my goodness, these Irish boys are hard work.’

The song contains lyrics like ‘I beg you don’t embarrᴀss me motherf*****’ and Keoghan starred in the music video.

Barry deactivated his Instagram after the breakup as he was getting too many threatening messages. 

Taking to social media app X (formerly Twitter), he hit back at the ‘lies, hatred’ and ‘disgusting commentary’ and explained why he quit Instagram.

‘I can only sit and take so much. My name has been dragged across the internet in ways I usually don’t respond to,’ he wrote in a lengthy statement.

‘I have to respond now because it’s getting to a place where there are too many lines being crossed,’ Keoghan ᴀsserted.

‘I deactivated my account because I can no longer let this stuff distract from my family and my work. The messages I have received — no person should ever have to read them.

‘Absolute lies, hatred, disgusting commentary about my appearance, character, how I am as a parent and every other inhumane thing you can imagine,’ he wrote.

Barry lamented that people on the internet have been ‘dragging my character and everything I worked extremely hard for and stand for.’
