BAFTA reveals Memorable Moment nominees as Gavin and Stacey, The Traitors and Bridgerton battle it out

The nominations for the BAFTA Television Awards 2025 P&O Cruises Memorable Moment Award have been announced.

From Gavin and Stacey, to The Traitors and Bridgerton, six of this year’s most acclaimed TV shows are set to battle it out for one of the ceremony’s biggest accolades.

The category is the only award in which the public will be able to have their say and vote for their favourite scene.

Battling it out for the gong against Gavin and Stacey, The Traitors and Bridgerton are Mr Bates vs The Post Office, Rivals and Strictly Come Dancing.

Strictly, which is up for Chris McCausland’s performance to You’ll Never Walk Alone, has been nominated twice in the past, winning in 2022.

Another scene TV fans will get to chose from is from Gavin and Stacey: The Finale when Smithy asks Mick if he should marry Sonia.

As the couple prepared to exchange their vows, with a registrar watching on, a surprise twist saw Gavin himself stop the ceremony, urging his best pal to rethink his decision.

The entire Shipman/West clan then stand, with Gavin’s dad Mick rising from his seat last, Smithy then asks Mick to tell him what to do.

The moment leads Smithy to finally realise that he loved Nessa, before vowing to go after her.

Elsewhere, in Bridgerton the moment Penelope Featherington and Colin Bridgerton’s friendship finally blossomed into a romance, has earned a nomination.

Season three ended on a steamy cliffhanger as after being unable to think of anyone else, Colin eventually declares his love for Penelope in a carriage after she was left heartbroken by Lord Debling.

The pair finally give into their pᴀssions, with Colin lifting up Penelope’s dress in the back of the carriage for a very steamy finale.

Another scene TV fans will get to vote on is the moment Diane shockingly revealed that Paul wasn’t her son but Ross was in The Traitor’s.

The duo entered the contest separately and chose to not reveal their connection to their co-stars, but viewers were clued in on the huge secret in the third episode.

Mr Bates vs The Post Office is nominated for the the scene in which Jo Hamilton finds out the amount she owes has doubled while on the phone to the Horizon helpline.

Finally, Rivals earned a nomination for the moment Rupert (Alex Hᴀssell) plays one of his favourite sports – tennis – ‘sans clothes.’

His opponent in the match, which takes place on a secluded court in the grounds of his country pile, is Tory WAG Sarah Stratton (Emily Atack).

She’s married to the wife of Deputy Prime Minister Paul Stratton (Rufus Jones) but that doesn’t seem to worry either her or Rupert too much – and she too has also been very much liberated from any kind of tennis attire.

Speaking about this year’s list, Carnival UK & P&O Cruises president Paul Ludlow said: ‘2024 was an outstanding year for television. The shortlist has memorable moments which made the viewer laugh, cry, gasp as well as including characters we have grown to love.

‘Television has the power to educate, to illuminate and to create powerful conversation – and this list includes all of those. I very much look forward to May when we can honour and celebrate the winners and all those nominated.’
