Sara Pascoe broke down in tears as she detailed her heartbreaking baby loss on Giovanna Fletcher’s Happy Mum Happy Baby podcast.
The actress and comedian, 43, who is married to actor Steen Raskopoulos, 37, welcomed her sons Theodore, two, and Albie, 13 months, both via In Vitro Fertilization (IVF).
Sara, who fell pregnant naturally before starting rounds of IVF, teared up as she opened up on the devastating loss of her baby.
She said: ‘My first one was a loss and it was really weird.
‘I know it’s okay to get upset, it was so ridiculous because having not got pregnant we got pregnant as we were waiting for our first IVF round.
‘So it felt like magic and the unfortunate thing is I got really carried away with the narrative of like we spent all this money.

‘So I was so happy to be pregnant and then when I lost it I felt so stupid and all of that stuff. And then it made everything after not enjoyable.’
The mother-of-one also touched on feeling ‘suicidal’ and experiencing ‘torrential floods of tears’ in the early days after giving birth to her first child Theodore, via C-section.
Sara discussed the ‘horrible hormonal crash’ she endured after pain relief and medication had completely left her body.
Giovanna asked: ‘How was that crash?’
Sara said: ‘Oh it’s horrible, it’s horrible. But then I feel I would never warn anyone because I think everyone has such different experiences.
‘And some people don’t have a mᴀssive hormonal crash.
Giovanna said: ‘So what did it look like for you at day ten?’
Sara said: ‘Well, it’s very illogical, isn’t it, because you’re mourning almost… You know, you’re suicidal.

‘You’re thinking, “I can’t go on now. No one needs me. I can’t be alive anymore”.’
Giovanna added: ‘Which is such a mᴀssive difference from the high that you’ve just been experiencing.’
Sarah continued: ‘Also I think those scary feelings. My worried would have been if someone thinks that I would hurt the baby because I don’t have any of those feelings, it wasn’t that. Or just being so scared of talking about it.
‘I think I had a bad couple of days but just in terms of torrential floods of tears.
‘Hormonal crying it is just your body more than your brain and I know that’s not everyone’s experience because I didn’t have that with the second baby.’
In October 2023, Sara revealed she ‘couldn’t believe her luck’ after welcoming her second child.
Taking to Instagram, Sara shared a slew of snaps of Albie and their elder son Theodore and penned: I’ve been in a hormone hole for three weeks so excuse my lateness- allow me to introduce baby Albie.
‘As a 42-year-old infertile woman I can’t believe my luck to have had two children (IVF). I also can’t believe how much washing there is.

‘I’ll see you at gigs later in the year when I’ve stopped crying every three minutes, lots of love ❤️❤️❤️ ps last pH๏τo is @steenrasko I think his face sums up the post partum period very well.’
In April 2023, Sara opened up on her fertility issues impacting her stand-up comedy and her fear of turning down work after her baby was born.
Before giving birth, she had struggled to conceive and centered a lot of her comedy around being infertile.
After having her baby, she then changed her material to reflect being a mother, admitting to being ‘complex’.
Speaking to the Radio Times, Sara explained: ‘As human beings, we’re all inconsistent. Something can be true at one point in your life or career, but not true later on.’
‘When I did Out of Her Mind [the BBC2 sitcom in 2020], I was at a stage of my life where I’d got my head around the fact that I was infertile and I really leant into that in the show.’
‘Then a year later, I had a baby [via IVF]. People who felt close to my narrative said, ‘Who are you, then?’ And it was like, ‘Sorry, people are really complex!’
‘When I was infertile, I was really defensive and now I’m a mummy, I do mum jokes. I’m an over-sharer – I’m comfortable with it, and with the discussion that comes after.’
