Davina McCall has signed up to host a brand new BBC dating show, marking her TV comeback after her recent brain tumour surgery.

The TV presenter, 57, will front BBC programme Stranded on Honeymoon Island which is scheduled to hit screens later this year.   

The new show sees twelve unlucky-in-love singles matched into couples at a speed dating event. They will then marry and immediately start their honeymoon on a tropical island.

Davina will guide the singles through their journey as their marriages and their survival skills are put to the test on the isolated island.

Davina gushed in a statement that she is perfect for the matchmaker role. 

‘I am a serial matchmaker…. So I jumped at the chance to host the BBC’s new dating show. I can’t wait to meet our couples and find out how they get on when they’re Stranded on Honeymoon Island.’

The BBC show is produced by CPL Productions, the BAFTA Award winning production company behind huge dating shows Married At First Sight UK and Love Is Blind UK. 

First broadcast in Belgium, subsequent versions have aired in Germany, Portugal, Netherlands, and Czech Republic. The format has also been commissioned in Australia.

The news comes after Davina’s previous dating show My Mum, Your Dad was cancelled after just two series.

The programme became a huge hit with fans and many will be gutted to find out that it won’t be back on our screens this year.

A TV insider told The Sun: ‘Strangely there were lots of stunning women in the 45 to 65 bracket who wanted to take part, but a sad dearth of men who fitted the bill.

‘This was a problem they encountered in 2024 when they tried to make the second series and just about managed to get enough candidates together.

‘But when it came to the third outing they realised it was just going to be too difficult, and decided taking a break might be the best option.’

An ITV spokesperson added: ‘My Mum Your Dad achieved a fantastic audience response across its two series, and the show’s boxsets continue to deliver a strong performance on ITVX.

‘There are currently no plans for a new series in 2025 owing to other priorities in our schedule, but we may revisit the show at some point beyond that.’
