Nancy Pelosi made the rare move of showing up at a splashy Hollywood party in Los Angeles on Sunday evening.

The long-serving 84-year-old former speaker schmoozed with A-listers such as Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom at the 2025 Vanity Fair Oscar Party held at Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts in Beverly Hills.

She also took time to say hello to Amazon honcho Jeff Bezos and his fiancée Lauren Sanchez, as well as comedian Bill Maher, actor Harvey Keitel and singer Debbie Harry.

Pelosi appeared in good health after having surgery on her hip after falling down a marble staircase in Luxembourg in December while on a state visit. 

On Sunday night, she wore comfortable sneakers and held onto a cane for balance.

The timing of her hobnobbing with luminaries comes after Hollywood liberals canceled Kamala Harris’ attendance at the Oscars. 

Harris – who has signed with powerful talent agency CAA – was expected to show up at Sunday’s Academy Awards but did not go through with it.

Harris shut down speculation she was set to make a surprise guest appearance at the Oscars with a behind-the-scenes glimpse into her ‘watch party’ from home.

The former vice president was named earlier on Sunday as a guest at the 97th annual celebrations, with whispers she was set to lead a segment paying tribute to the Los Angeles firefighters who valiantly fought devastating wildfires in January.

But her husband, Doug, put those rumors to rest just an hour before the ceremony was due to kick off with a post to X captioned: ‘Oscars watch party prep.’

The pH๏τo featured a make-up free Harris pouring Doritos into a bowl, with her hair swept back in a bun and wearing a black sweater.

She was all smiles in the pH๏τo, which appeared to be taken in the couple’s kitchen.

Hollywood bible ᴅᴇᴀᴅline had reported Harris’ supposed presence Sunday afternoon, citing a federal source who said beefed up security at the event was in part due to her appearance.

The ceremony honored firefighters and workers who helped battle ᴅᴇᴀᴅly wildfires that swept Los Angeles in January and destroyed huge swathes of the city. 

Harris was previously a Democrat senator for California. 

She’s also rumored to be considering a future run to become Governor of California, so could well lead the Oscars’ segment on the fires.

Pelosi is an American politician who was the 52nd speaker of the United States House of Representatives, serving from 2007 to 2011 and again from 2019 to 2023. 

After suffering a fall in Europe over Christmas, Pelosi was seen walking around the Capitol using a walker in mid January.

She has also been seen wearing flats, rather than her preferred heels which she was wearing when she took a tumble down a marble staircase in Luxembourg on December 13.

Pelosi has been a fervent critic of Donald Trump. 

One of the memorable images from his first administration was when she ripped up his State of the Union speech in 2020.

Her resentment of him grew after the January 6 Capitol riot and when he mocked her husband Paul when he was the victim of a violent hammer attack.

On the 2024 campaign trail, Trump repeatedly targeted Pelosi during his rallies by calling her an ‘enemy within’.

At his closing event in Grand Rapids, Michigan, he called her ‘evil’.

‘She’s a crooked person. She’s a bad person, evil. She’s an evil, sick, crazy,’ Trump said before appearing to mouth the word ‘b*tch’ ‘Oh no. It starts with a B– but I won’t say it. I want to say it. I want to say it,’ he said. 

In return, Pelosi referred to him as a ‘domestic enemy’ and also suggested Trump was partly to blame for the violent attack on her husband in their San Francisco.

She said the Republican Party ‘targeted’ and ‘demonized’ her

‘What was sad about my husband’s situation is he’s not very political,’ Pelosi said. ‘They were after me. And I feel guilty about his paying the price.’

She campaigned hard to keep Trump out of the White House. In August, during a media tour for her book, she told reporters: ‘My goal in life was that that man would never set foot in the White House again.’ 

But her efforts were unsuccessful even after she spearheaded efforts to get Biden to step down and back Harris. 

That led to her relationship with the Bidens souring.

Jill Biden said in January that she was ‘disappointed’ with her friend of 50 years, Pelosi, after she betrayed her husband Joe after his Georgia debate disaster in June.

Pelosi has been widely credited as a major player in Biden’s July decision to drop out of the race just months before Election Day.

After Harris’ loss to Trump, she doubled down, saying that the president should’ve dropped out of the race sooner to allow for a more open primary to take his spot.

‘I was asking for a campaign that would win. And I wasn’t seeing that on the horizon,’ she said in July, despite denying she had pushed Biden out.

First Lady Jill, in an exit interview, did not appear to have gotten over what Pelosi did to her husband.

‘Let’s just say I was disappointed with how it unfolded,’ Biden said, adding that ‘I learned a lot about human nature.’

Biden was asked about Pelosi after mentioning that she’d ‘been thinking a lot about relationships.’

‘It’s been on my mind a lot lately, and… we were friends for 50 years. It was disappointing,’ she said of the former Speaker of the House.
