Call The Midwife fans left ‘in tears’ after emotional final episode

Fans of Call The Midwife were left ‘in tears’ after an emotional final episode aired over the weekend.

The last installment of series 14 was broadcast on Sunday evening and followed the nuns and nurses of Nonnatus House in Poplar.

Nurse Nancy Corrigan (Megan Cusack) returned to the BBC drama after some time away and married pharmaceutical salesman Roger Noble (Conor O’Donnell).

However, there was a surprise before the wedding when it was revealed that Nancy had hidden her pregnancy and was seven months along.

She also went into labour earlier than expected and gave birth to the couple’s daughter with her husband-to-be by her side.

Later in the episode, the pair enjoyed a wedding ceremony together surrounded by family and friends.

The screenwriter added that there was an ‘ongoing conversation’ each year where they discuss if there is an ‘end point’ to the show and what they want to ‘work towards’.

‘So if we do take a break, it will be with a view to looking at other aspects of Call the Midwife,’ Heidi explained, before hinting that a spin-off may be on the cards too.
