Fans tuning in for the 97th Academy Awards were quite surprised to hear a very recognizable voice as the Oscar announcer.

Comedian David Allan Grier was tapped as the announcer for the 2024 awards ceremony, with another comedy legend taking on the role this year.

While the announcer’s role is typically off-camera, he was even included in a rather hilarious bit with host Conan O’Brien.

The announcer’s duties also include providing a few more details about the winners as they make their way to the stages.

They also reveal who will be coming up on the telecast before each commercial break, with the announcer even taking a humorous jab at one of his co-stars.

Fans were quite pleased upon hearing the iconic voice of none other than Parks and Recreation star Nick Offerman as the Oscar announcer.

The 54-year-old actor is best known for playing Ron Swanson in the NBC sitcom Parks and Recreation.

Offerman even had some fun at his Parks and Rec co-star Amy Poehler’s expense, purposefully pronouncing her name wrong.

‘Coming up next, Amy… Po-eh-ler presents the awards for Original and Adapted Screenplay,’ Offerman joked.

He even poked some fun at Conan O’Brien, interrupting one of his bits by mentioning,’ This is Conan O’Brien’s first time hosting the Oscars.’

When Conan tried to continued, Offerman mentioned, ‘That’s a lot of pressure,’ as Conan tried to laugh it off, adding he’s hosted awards shows before, though Offerman added, ‘Well, nothing this big.’

‘Nick, do me a favor and stop interrupting,’ Conan said, as Nick responded, ‘OK, guy, just trying to help.’

Still, Nick continued to interrupt, adding, ‘A challenge this big coming so late in one’s career must weight on a man’s soul,’ as the audience laughed.

A miffed Conan added, ‘That’s enough. Just read the script I gave you,’ as they cut to Offerman in a black-on-black suit backstage, who said, ‘He’s one of the great comedians of our time, Conan O’Brien,’ as the host said it was, ‘perfect.’
