Louis Tomlinson gave thanks to the BRIT Awards after his late bandmate and ‘brother’ Liam Payne was honoured with an emotional tribute during Saturday night’s event. 

The singer, 33, praised the organisers for the ‘beautiful’ video montage and message which featured in the official programme.

Liam died aged 31 on October 16, 2024, after falling from a H๏τel balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina. 

‘Thank you @BRITS. Beautiful tribute. Miss you always brother x,’ Louis shared to X. 

It also marked exactly one year since Liam released his single Teardrops, which would become the last song released by him in his lifetime. 

Louis wrote at the time: ‘Liam’s new single is out today!! Go have a listen.’

Remembering the singer during the ceremony, host Jack Whitehall said: ‘We have so many amazing memories of Liam here at the BRITs so tonight we celebrate his legacy, look back and remember the remarkable Liam Payne.’

A page in the event’s programme also paid tribute to Liam with a tear-jerking message and picture of the musician.

The tribute read: ‘The BRIT Awards are dedicated to recognising the influential figures who have shaped music’s past, present, and future.

‘Having received seven BRITs with One Direction, and performed twice with the band and twice as a solo artist at the awards over the years, Liam’s talent endures through the countless lives he touched.

‘He was not just a singer, he was a beacon of light for those who grew up with his work. May his music continue to live on in our hearts.’
