Channel 5 ‘set to reboot legendary reality series after 20 YEARS off screen’ – but can you guess which show it is?

Channel 5 is reportedly set to reboot a legendary reality series after 20 years off-screen.

Originally aired on Channel 4 from 2000 to 2006, the series was highly acclaimed during its original run, even winning two prestigious BAFTA awards for its innovative approach to reality television.

The show sees ordinary members of the public paired with seasoned professionals to learn a new skill or craft over the course of a month.

Participants are then put to the test, competing against genuine experts in the field they’ve been training in.

The ultimate goal? To fool a panel of judges who must determine which contestant is the ‘faker’ based on their performance.

But can you guess what the show is?

It’s none other than Faking It!

The iconic series is reportedly set to make a brilliant comeback soon, putting a new generation of fakers to the test.

Though no other details about the reboot are available at this time, fans of the original will surely be eagerly awaiting the return of one of their favourite shows.

MailOnline have contacted Channel 5 for comment.

The news comes as Channel 5 also announced that a whopping six new dramas will soon be hitting the channel.

The broadcaster has seen great success with its drama output in recent years and has managed to sign up a slew of stars to take on key roles.

Now, viewers can look forward to even more action, with six new programmes in the works.

In a surprising twist, these dramas will be standalone episodes, meaning fans won’t need to commit to a series and can catch up at their leisure – a real game-changer in the streaming era.

The new strand, тιтled Drama of the Week, is a nod to the iconic BBC series Play for Today, which ran from 1970 to 1984.

The initiative is also focused on providing opportunities to rising stars, both on and off-screen, as well as welcoming talent from low-income backgrounds in writing, direction, and production.

Sebastian Cardwell, Head of Drama and Channel 5’s Deputy Chief Content Officer stated: ‘The launch of this new drama strand is our response to an increasingly worrying and wider economic situation impacting our industry.’

‘From well-loved soaps closing to funding disappearing, it’s becoming even more difficult for people from low-income backgrounds to break through via traditional methods.’

‘We’ve specifically selected to work with Allan Niblo and Nathalie Peter-Contesse (Vertigo Films) and Colin McKeown (LA Productions) as they have a track record in supporting and nurturing this incredibly talented pool of people who need to be given the opportunity to step up.’
