Wendy Williams has shared an update on how she’s doing at her $18k/month ᴀssisted living facility in New York City.
The 60-year-old former talk show host — who recently celebrated her dad’s 94th birthday — appeared on Thursday’s Banfield broadcast on NewsNation and said she does not want to be there.
‘I don’t have the freedom to do virtually anything,’ she shared, adding details about where she resides.
‘As far as where I am, I’m on the fifth floor. They call it the “memory unit,” so it’s for people who don’t remember anything. I’ve met the people who live here and I’ve been here for almost a year now, and this is very suffocating,’ she explained.
‘It’s the memory unit, you know what I mean? Why am I here?’ she said. ‘I have no idea, but I can tell you that it’s $18,000 a month, which is extremely expensive. And what do I have? I have a bedroom, and a bathroom and a window.’
Williams went on to explain that patients in the memory unit are medicated, unable to shower independently, and struggle to brush their teeth.

‘It’s about being in this building. I have been in the ward for over three years,’ she emphasized during the virtual conversation.
The former radio personality, who is under a conservatorship, stressed, ‘It’s a long time. I’m ready to get out of here. I’m ready to get out and get out of the guardianship. It’s suffocating. It’s very lonely.’

Despite the restrictions at the facility, Wendy was granted the opportunity to celebrate her dad’s birthday in Miami in mid February.
A social media shared by her 24-year-old son Kevin was captioned: ‘Happy I could make this happen for you Papa.. I said by any means and I kept my word.’
Williams was appointed a court-ordered guardian in 2022 after she was allegedly diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia and primary progressive aphasia.
Her care team revealed the diagnosis in February 2024, but she has fought back, denying the accuracy of the prognosis.
Williams recently signed an affidavit pleading with a judge to end her conservatorship arrangement, which is under the care of Sabrina Morrissey, according to TMZ.
Sources told the outlet that she will be reevaluated by a doctor, who was picked by her legal team, to determine if she has ‘regained [the] capacity’ to function without her guardian.
Insiders also said that her legal team — private counsel she hired to end her guardianship after firing her court-appointed attorney last month — will reportedly file an emergency order to force a judge to look into ending the guardianship.

Morrissey claimed Williams is ‘cognitively impaired, permanently disabled and legally incapacitated’ in court documents reviewed by People last November.
Television producer Suzanne Bᴀss vouched for Wendy on Thursday in a video shared on Instagram.
‘I hadn’t heard from Wendy in years, until last week, my phone rang and it was Wendy,’ she revealed. ‘I cried. She cried.’
She added, ‘She sounds fantastic. She sounds the best she’s sounded in years. I’ve been learning every day since then, more and more about her story, what she’s been through, what she’s going through, this horrible guardianship she’s in.
‘And so, #Free Wendy all the way, all day, and she really just needs our love and support. Send prayers to her.’
