The series had been referenced under two different working тιтles, The ᴀssociate and Fixer, before landing on MobLand.

At the beginning of the year, Helen was spotted on set wearing sombre black lace under a fur-trimmed black coat.

Her character Maeve, was seen getting out of a limousine to attend a funeral.

It is unclear which character’s funeral they were attending in the scene they sH๏τ at Kensal Green Crematorium last week, but the hearse bore flowers which spelled out the word ‘Son’.

A source on set said: ‘Helen was having a great time during filming. She was very friendly and was definitely having fun embracing her inner gangster.

‘She is particularly fond of Pierce, they have been working together for decades.’

The pair first co-starred in the 1980 gangster movie The Long Good Friday, and more recently filmed a movie adaptation of Richard Osman’s bestseller The Thursday Murder Club.

Venom star Tom is executive producer of MobLand, with episodes directed by gangster specialist Guy, known for films such as Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Netflix hit The Gentlemen.

The production has already had a bumpy ride, including camera equipment being stolen last November.

Two men in a Toyota Prius distracted the crew by asking for directions before speeding off with the expensive kit.

Speaking about the incident, a source told The Sun: ‘Their questions distracted people and at that moment, the other bloke jumped out and grabbed a bag of camera equipment that was on the side of the road.

‘He jumped back in the car and they sped off. The security guards started going bananas because they’d basically been robbed in broad daylight. It was pretty embarrᴀssing and a costly mistake. The kit on those films isn’t cheap.’

Meanwhile it is thought Tom offered to pay the wages of the crew after a construction company went into liquidation.

Around 50 freelance building workers were left devastated after Helix 3D, the company contracted to build sets, went bust.

According to The Times, the company then refused to pay out £250,000 of wages ahead of Christmas, and its chief executive Brian Dowling sent out the devastating message saying their pay would likely not be in their accounts before the New Year.

It wasn’t until star Tom stepped in and offered to pay the workers’ wages that Paramount resolved the situation and set about sorting their pay checks.

Tom is set for a busy few months and will also star in Havoc in Spring of this year which will come to Netflix.
