Kelsea Ballerini has long moved on from her split from ex-husband Morgan Evans, but just days ago she came to his defense during her recent show in Hollywood, Florida.
Last Friday, the country pop star paused her concert at the Hard Rock Live to demand certain fans to stop screaming an obscenity about the Australian singer, whom she separated from back in 2022.
It happened during the performance of her song Penthouse, which is reportedly one of several songs believed to be about her relationship with Evans.
Many concertgoers could be heard singing along with Ballerini as she belted out the heartfelt lyrics: ‘It hurts putting s**t in a box / And now we don’t talk / And it stings rolling up the welcome mat / Knowing you got half,’ in a video posted on TikTok.
But then, after dropping that last line, fans apparently shouted, ‘F**k you, Morgan,’ which seemed to irk the singer-songwriter enough to pause the song and address the audience.
‘Guys, we have to stop saying that,’ the five-time Grammy Award nominee said calmly, all while shaking her head and slightly smiling.
Kelsea Ballerini, 31, stopped her recent concert in Hollywood, Florida to scold fans for cursing out her ex-husband Morgan Evans, 39, during her performance of the song Penthouse
‘Seriously, we’re three years past it, everything’s fine now,’ she continued, adding, ‘I sing the song for you now, it’s not about me anymore, please.’
Looking glamorous dressed in a leggy red outfit underneath a long sparkling coat, the Mascot, Tennessee native then slowly walked towards the front of the stage.
‘All right, for everyone that’s moving forward with their life, will you sing this with me?’ Ballerini told the now cheering crowd, before she resumed singing.

A slew of people took to the comments section of the TikTok clip, many of which offered their support for the I Hate Love Songs star.
‘For everyone who doesn’t know — people say “F You Morgan” during the pause. She has asked multiple times for people to stop. She is healed and wants to move on,’ one fan posted.
‘Y’all it’s not about the “you got half”,’ someone explained. ‘People are screaming F U Morgan and she’s over it. She even reposted videos of people telling others to not do that.’
Some others seemed to sum up the general consensus in the comments section by writing, ‘I love that she called them out. THATS healing’ and ‘So classy of her to call someone out she’s over it.’
The song Penthouse appears as the third track of her EP Rolling Up The Welcome Mat (2023) that was also accompanied by a short film of the same name.
Ballerini has been out on tour since January in support of her fifth studio album Patterns, which dropped October 2024, marking her very first headlining arena tour.
